50 turn, no high priestesses allowed Pagan. I chose a wizard kingdom not only for revelation, but they also have reveal pop spell. This was one of my favorite games, not just because I won as the Sorceror in Zamora, but because there was a ton of fighting. The necromancer opened up in Nyvaria and quickly took Diamond.  I figured it was Ozmandias as he is extremely aggressive. I found myself under attack on turn five or six from Mythgar and the death knights.  At that point it was too late for him to wipe me out, as my city was too strong.  As I was busy defending my eastern flank, the Sacred Order popped down from Krynn, but all I really needed was the city.  Playing the sorceror, or gnome with a major coastal city, is almost unstoppable if you dont make mistakes.  I continued to defend and regain my pops til about turn 15, at some point the attackers just gave up.  Things were looking great for the Necro tho, as he had three regions and was taking pops in triumvia for 4. DK had attacked the black in Pellinor, so I built for a for a few extra turns.  The black had taken DK cap, and it looked juicy, so I teleported to it in mythgar and took it the next turn, my first major mistake.  I was planning on stopping the necro, and completely upset my new neighbor instead, but did i mention it was juicy? At the point where the necro looked like he could swoop down to stormgate and threaten to win, I decided to act in Darkover (another reason to take a wiz kingdom, teleportation). I teleported to a town invisibly (another reason old trick someone taught me), and took it the next turn, while moving my cap there.  Ramhorn fell the next turn as i moved my cap back to zamora, and my emmies spread to diamond coast with three groups in darkover.  Here was my second major mistake, the necro landed a capital at area LR, which is a water area, looks like land to me.  It was built heavy, and i tried to move there but no ships. It prevented me from fully securing the region. I took darkover and diamond and the necro began to retaliate. Shifting to nyvaria, and now fighting a two pronged attack from necro and black, it turned into a battle royal! 4-6 groups attacking me each turn, emmies flying everywhere, and necro grabs his fifth region, but didnt declare.  What a comeback for him! He lost it the chance and never regained it.  Turn 34 or so, the deathknights, still clinging to a thread of hope, and having been building from stormgate for about 15 turns began to enamor untamed.  I owed him (plus he had the ring of spells and power) and headed into stormgate.  Dropped a big hammer and he dropped two turns later as i took possession. The next 15 turns was back and forth, and i was lucky enough to win by lions share.
I would like to thank the underworld, you had every opportunity to back door my kingdom, and almost did around turn 20, but realiazed i was heading to darkover and ended his kidnapping attack. The right thing was to let us all battle it out.
There is a line of building that becomes useless, i always struggle with it.  400k gold is nice, but once the battles start your wizards are too busy to raise them
I fought over 70-80 battles, and i bet necro had at least that with black right there.  It was constant.
I saw recently that someone had mentioned that no one builds anymore, and that things are too free, i disagree.  I loved watching the necro roll from turn 4ish.  Gast paced games like this didnt used to happen.  Those changes were made cuz Alamaze had become a game of farmers, i played many games where players were just growing til turn 30.
Revelation is still too strong. Iron golems still have crap defense.
The black took a legendary from me, i didnt think he could do that.  Minimal damages too.

Special thanks to Lord Garth for not playing in this one and leaving others an opportunity for victory.  Unsung hero award my friend.

Congrats on the win!

I almost dropped on Turn 2 after SA randomly landed on my hidden capitol, but he never came after me. I was never really after you, I just didn't want your agents camping out in my region. When I saw you respond to Ozzy in Darkover I tried to signal my intent by offering to return one of your agents.

Well, this was an interesting game!

As the Necromancer I started in Nyvaria and, as I often do, began attacking the Forgotten in Diamond Coast very early, perhaps turn 4. We had some back and forth, which included his Beholder killing one of my wizards (I totally forgot they did that!) On turn 9, we had a showdown at his water city. I had poured everything into my single group, and I had him outgunned by a fair, but not overwhelming, margin. I was surprised when I saw his group was destroyed (thanks to chaos) and all his wizards perished. My losses were over 25% plus my highest leader. The Forgotten dropped after that encounter, allowing me to clean up the region. I never did find his hidden capital, which made it more difficult in the future to control the region.

The Darkelf was my neighbor in Darkover, and, as you may have guessed, I'm not really a nice neighbor. This being a pagan game, I had no quick way to collect pop center information. Eventually, I could use the Unviel PC spell, but in the short term, that wasn't available. I could recon the city, however, and in doing so saw a small group with three p-3 or so wizards and a patrol with two more. Wow is that's tempting! Fast forward a bit, and on turn 15 I attacked with an invisible group, easily killing his group and wizards, and used slay spells to kill two of the wizards in the patrol. Faced with the loss of five wizards in a single turn, the Darkelf dropped soon after. By turn 20, I had the three regions.

On turn 21, the Amazons in Triumvia dropped unexpectedly. I was well-positioned to move in and began doing so. I used groups to take a few towns in Triumvia and then teleported those into the Untamed Lands, as the Black Dragon had picked up his third region. I had used Revelation to get a view into his kingdom.

A note about Revelation. It is a bad design and should be removed. It allowed me to move versus the BL with total knowledge of his kingdom without ever doing a single recon. One order gave me all his emissaries, agents, artifacts, PCs (and stats), and regional reactions - I basically had his turn sheet. Yes, I'll use the spell, and you should too, but it shouldn't be in the game in the form it is now.

About this time the SO attacked my in Darkover and Diamond Coast and the Dwarf was contesting me in Triumvia. Things went back and forth and then turn 29 came about.

On turn 28 the regions looked like this:

The Crown Islands (1) Unestablished Hostile Demon Princes(T)
Darkover (2) Substantial Tolerant NA
The Diamond Coast (3) Control Friendly Necromancer
Krynn (4) Unestablished Hostile Sacred Order
Triumvia (5) Substantial Friendly NA
Zanthia (6) Unestablished Hostile Dwarven(T)
Nyvaria (7) Control Friendly Necromancer
The Sword Coast (8) Unestablished Hostile Underworld(T)
Pellinor (9) Unestablished Hostile Black Dragon(T)
Zamora (10) Unestablished Hostile Sorcerer(T)
Mythgar (11) Significant Suspicious NA
The Untamed Lands (12) Control Tolerant Necromancer
Stormgate (13) Unestablished Suspicious Deathknights(T)

I had multiple reports on the BL moving to towns in the Untamed Lands. I thought I was going to gain control of Darkover and was only picking up two villages in Triumvia.

Turn 29 came about and I got control of Darkover, was surprised to see the two villages put me over in Triumvia (must of been by a whisker!), and the BL didn't incite those towns in Untamed. So its the BL's fault!

Five regions! No victory check! Oh boy...

Things went downhill from there quickly. Nothing unites people more than five regions! The DE moved into Triumvia, where the DW was already acting, and I was still fighting the BL and SO (who, to be fair, fought each other as well).

I won't go through the next twenty turns as it was a blur.

Some highlights:

I blew up a town with two level 25 UN agents and a level 17 SO agent. My target was the level 17 agent who was guarding the SO capital. I didn't get him.

I had a max agent with ruler eliminator and ring of invisibility ready to assassinate the sleeping SO king, only somehow someone slept my agent at an obscure village and stole both artifacts.

The SO did some really clever moves. I had a city in the water in Diamond Coast, and I suspected he was there invisible, so I domed it. I also had reason to believe he had a group invisible at a water town in Nyvira. I domed that. Instead, the SO took the city politically and used a meteor strike to destroy the town.

The SO caught one of my groups and beat it up in combat and pursued me...only I had transferred all my brigades saved a few skeletons to a different group. He ended up chasing those skeletons to an empty square in Mythgar Smile The way the game was going I was looking for small victories Smile

I teleported to XE, thinking it was XU. Doh!

I went to attack a legendary only to spot my Iron Golem had died? Really? 40 brigades and that is the one I lose?

I used Summon Demon and High Demon to some success this game. I think the SO picked up on it and warded some of his guys.

The BL did really well with what I consider a sub-par kingdom! I know he was beat up a lot, but he kept coming back!

All in all fun games! I really enjoy the Pagan format. I do wish Revelation was removed or reworked.

Congrats to the SO for the win and to all who stayed in until the end.

I've mixed up NP and NU on more than one occasion.

I was the Black Dragon and picked it for the challenge. Whooee- what a crap kingdom. Bad wizards, bad companions.

The Giant attacked me on turn 4 in Untamed, so I went right after him in Pellinor and he dropped pretty early. No divinations, so my speed allowed me to find his capital quickly. The DK was in Mythgar, and he had both the ring of power and ring of spells. I wanted to stop him getting pit fiend and Iron Golem early, so went after him. I never could get those rings, which the SO eventually got (not that big a deal that a wizard gets them).

As soon as he dropped, I was able to barely get my ESO and even thought about a victory attempt with Stormgate, Pellinor, Mythgar and Untamed. But then the NE attacked and went for victory. The SO suppported a high council vote for me, and I thought the SO would be on my side, maybe even an unspoken alliance, but no.

For the rest of the game, I was buffeted by the NE and the SO with a three way war ranging from Zamora to the Endless sea. My 1BL had 10+ fire wands and even took a couple of small legendarys, but bounced twice against better ones. My other max brigades groups couldn't even take a castle- they sucked. So I hit villages and flew around.

My capital fell 10+ times so secret passages were my savior.

Anyway, fun game. BL sucks and sucks even worse in longer game.

I can feel the disdain in your tone… lol I hate the BL
