Range Finder for Paper Maps
#1
I prefer to update my Power Point map each turn, print it out, and work from it. I found it annoying to constantly count squares to determine whether or not my agent or emissary would be in range. I found a simple, and very useful, solution.

I raided my wife's office for some sheets of acetate. You know, the clear plastic film that they used to write on for the old time projectors in school. I laid it over my printed out map and used a sharpie to draw a 10-area square around a central square. Now all I have to do is lay it over the map, centered on the pc where my character is located, and I can instantly see what is in range and what is not. I punched holes in it and put it in my pimped out binder.

I suppose that I could also use it for Intercept radius and, maybe, movement.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Very clever! I am hoping all players are having success however they are mapping. I am using the PowerPoint map. I click on a symbol at the bottom, click copy, then paste, then drag the new copy to the designated area. I also have to then change the background color (fill) to that of the appropriate kingdom. Its a little work, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

Rick, you should have Frost Lord's version. It's hardly any work at all. All 15 kingdom's have their own color and icon. Just drag the little arch with that kingdom's color over to the pc. When it changes, just add a new one on top if it. It saves you having to change the color each time.

My range finder even works on my monitor if I scale it at 95%.

I can't wait for the online version of this. FoR spoiled me.

One thing I always felt FoR lacked was the ability to print out the and and turns.

The more important lacks are Magic and real variety in unusual sightings. I love that it is so much harder to find sightings in Alamaze.
