Can we get a list of the various setup fees? I am still uncertain about what constitutes 'custom' and has a fee of $20 over $8.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Right now 15 player games with no custom rules are $8. Warlords are $16 and Titan (six positions) $24. If there is customization the price will be different, and players are advised in the thread to signup for the game.

I was hoping for a comprehensive schedule that would list those differences.
For example, what factors were used to determine that the Anonymous Warlords setup fee would be $40? Was it because it's anonymous? That there are only 12 kingdoms instead of 15? Because of the draft format?
I think that making this clear is important. Nobody likes sticker shock.
Thank you for your consideration.

As said, players will know on the signup thread the particulars of each game, number of players, scenario, map, any special rules, and the sign up cost. This is how we have been doing it and there is no "in stone" formula to publish as we have created so many different variations.
The Warlords Anonymous Variant took me eight hours to set up.

I see. I do think that not knowing the price going in limits the game potential. Nobody knew the setup fee for that game when they started posting on it. It was pretty much filled before you posted the fee.
That game started because you posted how surprised you were that Warlords wasn't popular. Have you considered that ambiguity may contribute to that?
Just to be clear, I am not complaining about the fee itself; that is another subject all together. I am complaining because I really don't know how much these games will cost. That doesn't makes sense to me.

You are correct that the operators of Alamaze reacted on the fly to a player request started on the forum for an entirely new format and with great effort were able to produce that game in less than 24 hours. No one who successfully signed up for the game was surprised by the setup fee.

We are at the point to where you refuse to see my point. I'll stop wasting my time then.

I don't think it's really an issue, not knowing what the costs will be. The only real variable is the setup fee and that's known before anybody confirms that they are playing. It's like if I want to take a trip, I learn the price of the air fare before booking but I don't know ahead of time when I start thinking it would be fun to take a trip to Honduras.
The price of a regular Warlords game was established - I don't think that was why the format didn't get a lot of takers. A $40 setup fee for a new format seems fair to me when the player is getting 3 kingdoms.
The biggest part of the fee is the number of 'points' it takes up - the setup fee is really a small overall part of the costs. I would rather the company have flexibility in setting those rates. The main rates are established. Specialty games should be handled on a case by case basis.

Another possible solution is to only have the gamemasters start the threads to actually set up new games when there is a concensus on the forums and/or when they decide to do so. They will post all the specifics of the game in addition to the fee. I would've not liked a $40 fee had I signed up for this other game but would've paid it. Less confusion is always a good thing...
