NEWBIE QUESTION - MAPS
#1
Hi Guys

Might seem a daft question. Got my startup, have no scouting which i assume is normal nor maps - do we draw our own maps out or is it really not relevant?

Cheers

I second this question. I found a map on the Alamaze web site, but it's not clear whether we are playing "classic" or "resurgent". Are those maps different?

Also, I don't know where the other players start. I remember seeing something somewhere listing the starting "region" for each player. Do the particular details change from one game to the next (ie: the towns/villages I control, and their location?) Are all city/town/village locations randomized? Or do veterans already know the location of all such locations, and the starting positions of all players?

No, the map is very relevant. Here's a copy.

To answer the other questions, you are playing 'resurgent' - that's the map I uploaded. All kingdoms start in the same region every game. Each has two towns and two villages. The exact location will change, but not the region (with a few exceptions - the UN for one). Some will always start with their capital in a specific type of terrain - the DW, GI, RD and BL start in a mountan town, for example, while the EL and TR always start in a forest (RA too, I think).

So you know which neighbors to contact, here is the general distribution of kingdoms: Elf upper left, Witchlord upper middle, Dwarf upper right, Troll and Ancient Ones middle left, Giant and Warlock in the middle, Dark Elf in Eastern Steppes, Sorceror and Ranger in Synisvania, Gnome bottom left, Demon Princes bottom middle, Black Dragons bottom right, Red Dragons in upper right and lower left, UN kind of all over.

It's always resurgent unless very clearly identified as the classic map.

The kingdoms will all start in places that are generated for this game but this thread will give you an idea of who starts in near what regions.

Good luck!

Second page of this thread has the ppt map. There is also a PDF map that prints very nicely.
