While it is still early (T4), I wonder if players might comment specifically on the Exploratory effect on the early game. We are considering making this the default format. The thinking is the early game has more variability and uncertainty and that the strategy for artifact hunting changes significantly.

What do you think?

(GN) - I kind of like it, it is definitely different. I like it that it is in sync with other not until turn 4 orders like the DE summons and UN agent training. It does open up a different type of starting moves which is nice and like the DE has experienced, it makes cities even more important early on.

Seems to delay most about 1 turn but requires more effort to make sure you get that region. Will be interesting to see if it makes it harder for people to get there ESOs especially those kingdoms that require artifacts. I see no reason not to continue making it a standard start to a game. Will make getting a region on turn 3 a special thing and getting it on 4 possible but more likely if you work with other players.

(WI) I agree. I think it makes early cooperation much more important, if one is to gain a region early. We'll have to see if it really makes any difference in the long run, though. It does make collecting artifacts much more difficult.

Just a reminder that soon all personas will choose their ESO and SVC.

How about this notion - the Exploratory format increases the chances for artifact seeking kingdoms effort as it is much more difficult to find locations early when agents and groups are looking for PC's? So in other words, seeking artifacts over PC's is now a more distinct choice with consequences that didn't exist before.

(UN) I did consider how many artifacts I could possible get if I just went solo and talked to know one. As the UN I could be scouting 28+ squares for artifacts on turn 2. Maybe better than looking for PCs since a group can already do that a bit more efficiently anyway. I would guess a few kingdoms are doing just that though. Build your agents for PCs the first few turns then scout for those close by artifacts after priestess come out. From watching others agent training I can see no kingdoms raised 0 agents and only 2 raised only 1. It is interesting that nobody but me has bought an agent.

(SO) The Underworld management, tasked with raising revenue, lowered agent training to 2000. This is a rare opportunity.

Eight regions have come under control after turn 5. No enemies seem to have been declared beyond natural enemies.

(UN) to further my good will. I will offer that anyone who buys agent(s) this round will be able to raise them to level 4 before the prices raise again.
