Can leaders be slept by sleep spell? For example Can I sleep a General before combat and thus lower their combat strength?

I'm sorry to say you can not sleep a leader. There are other spells you can use against leaders however.

You can stun them before combat (same as sleep) but that can be countered by a protect heroes/wizards that your opponent might cast. Most players will cast kill spells if available despite the lower chance of success.

A thought when fighting those large army groups. Stunning a Warlord with a p4 100% if no protect spell is up will take away a 25% bonus that warlord given to both offense and defense. Where your offensive spell would have much less effect even if your the WA and have tornado doing 4400 points offensive damage only.
