Looks like we should be ready to start.
With the competitive talent levels of each of these teams could we just have the teams randomly selected or picked by submitting a list? Even a draft excluding the RD TR GI would be fine. Perhaps try Head Honcho's idea so everyone can see the draft unfold. It that model seems more fair no matter your draft position.
Just ideas I am ready to get started

I'm guessing this one will be as advertised, but for a set team contest in the future, I'd like to try:
BL-SO-DW
UN-AN-EL
WI-GN-DA
RA-DE-WA
Each team has two natural enemies on different teams, one wizard Kingdom (counting AN as an early wizard Kingdom), one shared starting region, one or two southern regions, similar geographic dispersion (except UN-AN-EL is all on the west, but they are also handicapped by being one of the two teams with only one southern Kingdom, a slower to develop UN, and lower absolute wizard levels), and roughly comparable militaries.

These kingdom "Hawks" groupings were discussed in a different thread. The goal was to make them all spread apart and also give everyone one kingdom with a shared region. By having any predefined kingdoms there is going to be a favored set in this case the RA team and an unfavored set the GN team. It is natural but I still think an overall better set of teams that meets the goal. Tweek maybe
The teams suggested above have multiple groupings, other than the WI team are all basically in groups. It also has a team in even a worse spot than the GN team of Hawks, the BL team is likely to get hit hard with the RA team not having to worry about creating other enemies can go after the SO and BL from the start. A crafty WI team would also see this and take on the DW at the same time.
Anyway back to the game I believe teams are set we just need Ry Vor to give us the team rankings so we can send our selections or be gifted the GN team.

I started the thread on balanced teams. JF actually made the suggestion on the current 4 teams. I thought it looked like something worth trying.
Here is the thread
http://kingdomsofarcania.net/forum/showt...t=balanced
I thought with a spread apart design kingdoms might fight all their neighbors instead of just two separate teams fighting each other like 149 turned out to be.
I don't know what the most balanced design is. The design suggested above is probably worth trying again.
If it is not ideal then back to the drawing board. Maybe:
EL UN BL
DW WA AN
DA GN SO
RA WI DE

RA WI DE seems very strong and DA GN SO starts with two dual region and two NE with the other team not sharing region. Fairest way is still a draft I thought HH did a great job showing a draft that would work and you can see what is happening as you draft of course teams would be known or can draft secretly. By picking by ranking 2 teams basically become anonymous the first and last are likely already known. I am good with anything. Not that excited of having my kingdoms picked for me but will go with it. I think maybe not the best plan to have both ranking draft order and standardized kingdom sets at the same time. This leaves a team with no choice at all.

Very confused. Ry Vor laid out a format. People can join or not join that format. These are all great ideas for other formats, but why change this when 12 people have signed up as it is listed?

Hear, hear. There's a hundred different arguments as to what the 'right' balance might be and I'm not particularly interested in having that discussion, myself. The teams in this case are pre-formed and I'm happy with whichever one we get. Not keen on litigating the lineup.

Sorry folks, just being chatty. I did say I was confident this game would proceed on its original terms, but I will move other meanderings to another thread.

The rules
This will be a new Magic (12 players, 4 teams) game in the same mode we recently did with Hawk's Power 4. Anonymous as to position but not persona or team.
So you can post as a team or as an individual. The teams are:
EL, DE, RA
AN, DW, SO
DA, GN, WA
BL, UN, WI
So no GI, RD, or TR. And teams are requested by a captain, but issued in order of least overall experience to most (Chivalrous). This has been a favorite game type for players in Game #164 and is also the team makeup in the last Warlords game.
In Magic, you communicate with your teammates only, and you can only win by a team victory, if your team controls 6 regions, and you all declare team victory.
The teams: Ranked them from least experienced to most. Ry Vor feel free to change the order how you feel meets with your chivalry stuff
Team 1
VBall Michael
Canticar
Damelon
Team 2
Hawk
Nicodemus
Stillgard
Team 3.
Jumpingfist
Mauler
Morgan Kane
Team 4
DuPont
Thalion
Brogan
Can we send in selections?

Send 'em in. Assume team captains are the first listed for each team.
