MAGIC Awaits You!

This will be a new Magic (12 players, 4 teams) game in the same mode we recently did with Hawk's Power 4. Anonymous as to position but not persona or team.

So you can post as a team or as an individual. The teams are:

EL, DE, RA
AN, DW, SO
DA, GN, WA
BL, UN, WI

So no GI, RD, or TR. And teams are requested by a captain, but issued in order of least overall experience to most (Chivalrous). This has been a favorite game type for players in Game #164 and is also the team makeup in the last Warlords game.

In Magic, you communicate with your teammates only, and you can only win by a team victory, if your team controls 6 regions, and you all declare team victory.

Players should be aware in advance that the BL/UN/WI team has no natural enemies, while EL/DE/RA has two, and the other two teams have three each.

The goal was to make the most balanced game board possible. I'm not sure if we got it quite right or not.

It may be better to remove all natural enemies.

I think some of the same starting conflicts we saw in 164 may repeat themselves with the same results.

As of turn 9, the strongest two teams in 164 are currently EL DE RA and AN DW SO. Each control 3 regions.

If the pattern repeats itself then likely the teams should be changed. More games will tell the tale.

I'm thinking one is too small a sample size, if I remember my statistics.

I have faith both in Hawk's balancing (for this game at least), and in players' ability to adapt.

I would like to give this format a try. Please sign me up as a captain. I've never even been on the podium before, but what the heck! Do I have to submit my teammates now, or do I have time to consider and solicit?

This is a team game, so we are hoping that players that typically ally in a game join here as a team. But a player may post as a single, getting teammates down the road. I hadn't thought about proclaiming captain as a single, certainly fine for a team joining. The Gray Mouser tells me this is his favorite format.

As the lead to this thread may have been a bit confusing, you post that your persona is in the game here, either with or without your teammates. Teams will then be assigned by preference in reverse order of status points. Then the captain will assign the three kingdoms to the three players.
