I want to get back in and was going to wait for the 3rd cycle/choosing but I do like the UN. However, are the changes that I saw discussed still in effect in that the UN doesn't get 1,500 gold back for training/hiring their own agents anymore? That seemed to be a definite weakening of the position and I think it was JF who had brought that up a couple of months prior.

No changes to the code in the last month or so, so most likely the UN does not get paid for training their own agents.

UN does not get anything for his own agent training or hiring

They get 25% of other training so loose money that way as well

I find that if the UN starts out well this has little impact but when not well it can create a downward spiral where your spending what little you have to try and pay your agents to steal gold to train and have gold for the next turn while agents start dying. Unlike other kingdom free military moves are not very productive for the UN so you need gold to maintain basic orders for your agents

In a full diplomacy game, you could probably negotiate for a better starting position, than UN in an anonymous contest, so I bet you'll end up being OK. And UN is still a very strong Kingdom in Valhalla. Would be great to play with you again, Acererak!

I would agree if there was a favorable game for the UN this is one of the better ones. I think having the GN in game actually help the UN. With no GN R7 becomes a target but with the GN and UN together most would not invade right away without at least working a deal with be one if them.

I reduced my service level to enable me to finish the two Warlord contests I was in. I recently sighted this strange message that I had never received before about a mythical creature called, "an available slot in your service level."

I will accept the UN position in this Rex contest.

A few thoughts:

1) Am I still considered a podium player after losing my Imperator status? Or do I get 25k additional gold?

2) Since the initial return of Alamaze, I have always been willing to pay more for faster turn around options.

3) I am certain I am willing to return to Imperator status to have first choice of kingdom whenever The Choosing test game is begun.

The RD --> Eastern Steppes strategy is also taking place in another game I am in. I know the strategy well now, because, well, I was the DA that Uncle Mike rolled over in the game you mention! Big Grin

To be clear, no one got mad. In the end, DA decided they were disinclined to submit to being bullied by overgrown lizards out of ownership of their ancestral homeland right out of the gate. It was fun and I learned a lot, though the end result was never in doubt. And thankfully, as of today, it is over as the RD victory over DA is complete!
