Anonymous Warlords--Get your orders in on time!
#1
Hi folks,

As most of you know, I'm a pretty laid-back person and hard to annoy, but this is the third time in the last three weeks that someone has failed to get their orders in on time for a warlords game (three separate games).

I realize that it's likely not the same person and that everyone has issues that arise in real life that take precedence but c'mon...Warlords runs ONCE a week. Surely people have time to run their bloody orders without waiting until the last minute?

What makes it worse is that the Warlords pool--at present--is relatively small. Rick has emailed us all about missing turns each time this has happened, asking us to please be aware of due dates and to respect the fact he schedules time to process the turn...and then it happens again!!

As I said, these games run once a week, not two a week like an individual game, nor three/week like some primeval. When someone misses a turn in warlords, the processing is pushed off for three-four days...which sucks for those of us looking forward to our results.

I love Warlords and the all you folks playing the format. Just please, please, please...make sure you know when the turn is due (Wednesday or Saturday) and get your orders in early!!! If you can't, at least inform Rick and he can tell the rest of us...so we don't wake up to an empty inbox

Thanks Will. I will just add, if we say Saturday processing, we have to have someone (and I know who that will be) not go to a game or a movie, but do processing, and that person expects to be paid. Then a Warlords game can't be processed with 3 people instead of 4 without destroying the game. So it isn't. So we pay for the Saturday time and then pay for it and do it again on Wednesday.

For God's sake, do we ever need web order entry! Cipher now has a new contact he is trying to work with that has the Perl knowledge it appears we need with our code language. Or most helpful would be every player in every format to get their orders in before the deadline. Don't send support requests to active games, send them to support. We only look at active games to process orders. Don't label the turn #138 if you are in #139 and then ask what went wrong. This is not Microsoft or Apple - there is no squad of people to correct errors. Whew. I feel a tiny bit better.

A Saturday game would be convenient, for me, but for sure added stress to the GM.

It's tough on my end though having several Warlord games running Wed-Thurs and getting all my orders straight. i like to think about my moves and usually complete my orders the night before so if I have 6+ sets to fill out it gets stressful and mistakes can happen. This is why I failed miserably at playing Titan.

I very much like having a 1 week turnaround so you know Game 142 or whatever runs Wed.

All in all happy and Warlords in its present form is my favorite format by far.

So if you go on a week long vacation, what are the options for turn entry? I just went on a four day vacation and managed to get in both affected turns, but I have a seven day vacation coming up and the liklihood of making that stretch is very low. Can I delegate someone as my order enterer for a turn?

Absolutely. I went on a couple month sabbatical to the islands and passed off my games to a number of very kind folks. Heck, if you're not in any of my games, I'll run them myself Smile

I may take you up on that. I am the WI in game 143 and will be gone from July 5 through July 14 (inclusive). Is that doable for you? I do have a mentor in that game (Jumping Fist) and he seems trustworthy to me, however, the other players may feel that there is a conflict of interest there (I probably would as well if the positions were reversed). So having someone without that CoI could make a lot of sense and be much less objectionable. Interested?

143? Hmm...I'm kind of giving informal advice to another player in that game. Might be a conflict of interest there Sad

OK. I guess I will have to ask an ingame ally since that is the only people I kind of know. How do I let the turn executor know to accept the turn from my delegate?

Has anyone seen those ads for the new BBC America show "Almost Royal"?

If you still need help, I can run a couple turms for you.
