Game 141 AESR (Anonymous Exploratory Steel Rex)
#11
(TR) I picked up this kingdom on standby only five turns before it ended, but with access to the back catalog of turns, I can piece together some of what happened in the west during the game.

With AN in this version of 12 kingdom Anonymous, TR made for Oakendell right from the first turn. The Elves dropped early. The message didn't get broadcast on the turn reports until turn 7, but the TR showed up at Lorethane on turn 3 and the turn 4 battle that ensued showed 1EL as Surprised. Whenever it happened, it doesn't seem the EL issued orders after that. TR secured Oakendell at the same time that AN claimed control of Torvale.

The TR had taken an AN village on its way to R1 from its starting location in Amberland back on turn 2, but that had been the end of it from looking at the TR turns. In fact on turn 8, a TR army landed on an AN town in R4 and opted not to attack it. But there was no way for AN to know that. Turn 9 saw a flood of AN emmys into Oakendell. This started a war that would still be raging when I took over the TR position on turn 17.

Looking back at the turns, it was a furious conflict. The TR kingdom had maxed out it's three wizards and they were in a patrol by themselves issuing Sleeps and Wards. TR agents cut into AN political corps pretty aggressively, while the TR armies and emmissaries had successfully knocked AN out of control of Torvale at about the time I took over. I know for a fact that the AN issued orders for turn 18, when TR gained control of Torvale. The same turn, 1AN and 1DA showed up at Lorethane and a flurry of political reports alerted me to the arrival of the DA in R1.

This is the first turn that the AN did not submit, I think. It also is the turn that the DA somehow missed, as mentioned above, so I had the ability to turn my war machine back home and start retaking PCs the AN had taken while the TR had initiated the counterstrike in R4. Imagine my surprise upon opening turn 19 and realizing that I still owned Lorethane and that both mega groups were still there! I had no information on the DA but for what my PCs told me, so I just started aiming my groups at PCs in Oakendell that I did not own. One of them happened to be the capitol that the DA had used to drop all his emmys into R1, so on turn 20 I captured the DA King and some other good prisoners but the DA took control anyway.

I took more stuff and was on the cusp of knocking DA back out of control of R1. I also received reports that two high level GN emissaries had moved into my capitol at QC. I chuckled at the idea that GN might feed his guys into my prisons but he was smart enough to move them on to other R4 targets on the final turn. Actually, a standing order issued by my predecessor to execute enemy prisoners cost me some AN prisoners on the final turn that would have earned me my customary 4th place finish had I been clever enough to withdraw it once I saw the AN had dropped.

I had fun playing with you guys for the short time that I did. I feel like I was in pretty good shape going forward if the game were to somehow get further than it did, but constant war had left the kingdom in a damaged condition. No artifacts, low inf, etc. Coming quickly on the heels of #136 where I played the TR the whole game, it was an interesting contrast.

My capital's defense was almost 100,000 and it produced 102,000 gold. I would have had these even higher, but I thought I should raise my wizards too. These were 5 P6s, a P5 and 2 P4s.

I didn't want to play a magic kingdom in an anonymous game and didn't know how, so I just decided to hide in my island capital, develop my wizards and improve gold production and defense. Tongue

How big did you get your production and Defenses up to?

A lot of nice write ups and quick after the game. Hmm makes me think I should be doing a write up myself.

I was the first to congratulate the winner on an Anonymous game. Then I see who has posted in the game.

*tin foil hat on*

Hmm. An Anonymous game with "The 3", and the same results as non-anonymous. Hope it was truly "anonymous".

*tin foil hat off*

I give them all the benefit of the doubt.

(GN) Ok, I will be the second to do so, even though he took my region to claim the victory Smile.

That's very interesting.

Amazing coincidence, but I still will give the benefit.

You seem to be suggesting that the Black Dragon, the Demon Princes, the Gnomes, and every player who ignored the Rangers (with three regions) was a part of that win. Amazing how I control so many players even in an anon game. Ask a Gamemaster to check for any interactions or infractions before you make this kind of accusation. The Dark Elves declared earlier but did not quite win; I guess I made that happen also. If I ally with people, it is claimed unfair, when I fight them and take their regions, it is claimed unfair, when I win with no interaction with them, it is claimed unfair.

I am missing the byplay here. I didn't see or feel that anything underhanded happened this game. Except for everyone attacking my Underworld, of course.

Wow, this games write ups are fantastic, perhaps too informative. This has been the biggest eye opener to me as a new player on how the game can be run. The breakdown of what orders were written and when is to me the most comprehensive and informative game summery I have read. The other kingdoms/players also stepped up the game write ups as well and I wanted to say thanks for doing so. The only sad part is, part of my gaming died here as well, for the role play aspect is now gone and chess mentality is now the game for me in the future I think.

P.S. UN players, please add stats like were done in this UN game, it was really cool to see the level of agents in the game.
