Which Kingdom is the Coolest?
#1
Well, that's the question to you, Sir Knight.
Which Kingdom is the Coolest?  And why.

While their endgame is poor, I'd have to say the Red Dragons are the coolest. Until the Dome spells appear, their ability to simply steamroll any PC or opposing group in their path just makes them a hoot to play especially once they get going and have sufficient resources to fund their winged campaign of fire, death, and destruction. You can also go scorched earth and just burn the world down around you. You can almost neglect everything else in your kingdom so long as you stick to 150/170/180/190, then three 565s, and then your 720s each turn to new PC locations with that brutal 8 square movement. And once you get a Phoenix in all 5 groups of Army size or larger regenerating on standing orders.... well, its just Glorious.... of course your opponents have other adjectives!

Nice!  I sort of had to catch my breath. I could see that one for sure.

But, I am sure there are lots of cases to be made.  Next?

It's a very tough choice, but I will put a vote in for the Amazons.  Obviously different on the skin level, but the combinations of abilities is really interesting to me.  For example, mastery in plains and Military Tradition and Riders giving Flanking, ah, some have learned at the learning ends of those spears.  Throw in Devout to get an Avenging Angel for a critical battle, foreknowledge of two artifacts, and the January Change which I think makes Dispel Dome more accessible.  With almost dragon-like mobility in plains, they can be across the map in a hurry.

Overall, I just think they are cool.  See thread title.

If you are purely looking to have a good time and not focused on winning I would say the Underworld is one of the most enjoyable kingdom to play. There are so many ways to enjoy yourself. Maybe you want to kidnap 30+ emissaries or you want to see how many artifact you can acquire. Perhaps you want to be a n agent for hire in a full deplomacy game. Perhaps you want to toss the blame around and create chaos in the lands. The Underworld is perhaps the hardest of all kingdom to take out because they can thrive with zero PCs owned and still cause fear to those that would dare become your enemy. Any game that goes a full 40 turns with an active Underworld is likely to see this little kingdom that could at the very top of the pack in status points.

Good one!  Definitely see it.  It's a lot more subtle than the other two nominees so far, and probably not best attempted until at least an intermediate skill player.

I have never played the Pirates, but I think they would be cool from the unique abilities they have.

Pirates and Underworld are my favorite followed by what ever cycle has knights.  Pirates are just cool and can work with few population centers and still have a ton of gold.  The only problem I had was not enough orders.  The underworld is really cool (my option from 2nd not 3rd edition) and although there gold income from agents looks like a bell curve, the inside information about agents hired and who's training is just over the top cool.  The ability to look a little into all others kingdoms really makes you feel the the Underworld.  Sure you get blamed for every agent activity in the world, but the odds are you could figure out who might be framing you based on what kingdoms have invested in agents. No other kingdom gets as much information about others as the Underworld. There just is not  enough data one gets from other players that compares to the UN.  The DW might get a few nods here and there on defenses.  The AN sees a couple of hires from time to time.  Getting an underworld turn after kingdoms start getting regions to me was just fascinating.   Three to five agents hires and at times 12 to 20 agents trained gives you a lot of information besides who's got agents, it open up how some players play the game.   No other kingdom can do that in my option.
