The Perils of Scout

Scout Level Service = One game at a time.

Sounds ok, keep your toes in the pool.  Game is going along fine, its fun, you're getting where you want to be....

BANG!

Game over.  The guy no one challenged or saw coming wins, probably around turn 26.  Just when things were getting good for you and you either were working on a podium spot or getting sweet revenge, and now its all over.

So, two things.

One, I mean this sincerely, for your own best interest:  Scouts should move to Warrior, having two games going on.  Then its not quite so jarring.  And you are learning more.

Second, Mike has said he might have some time for some development in the near future.  So one thing I think we will put in place is changing the Rex Victory condition from four regions to five.  We have mentioned this before, as Maelstrom has 13 regions where The Choosing had 10.  I think pretty much everyone supports this change, but it will effect how you play.  For example, many players in a strong position with say two regions currently are thinking how to get the third and fourth almost simultaneously.  With the condition requiring five regions,  obviously the victory is harder and players feeling behind are no longer quite so desperate, and have time to recover.

We will make other at least minor changes and still to be determined how far we can go with this update.  For one, Wind Storm will be reduced against PC's and also be able to be dispelled.  That's an example of a minor tweak but one I think everyone also supports.

A more major change is an upgrade to the PC Improvement model currently in place.  And that may be all we have time for this time around.

But if we have more development time, is there anything you think really needs attention?

I would rather see things that are broken fixed, rather than a spell that everyone can use equally, being nerfed.

Thank you for the update.

A few things I would like to see updated:
Order 930 - Sabotage Pop centers is way to week, with the building of castles, great castes legendary ... once you get up to Legendary, they are to an extent impenetrable. I would like to see the damage done based on the agent's level.

Great Mage Tower - I do not know of anyone building one .. Maybee add a reduced cost for mages to it, letting you stack the Wizard tower with the Great MAge for a total reduced cost of 2k.

Id also like more artifacts and spells, but im sure that is a ways off Smile

I'd like the weapon artifacts fixed. Actually adding the bonus to all the appropriate combat fazes would be great.

What "things"?  And I feel Wind Storm is overpowered, especially against PC's.  How PC battles are resolved is different as most know from force v force battles, and the two missile phases are critical to PC defense.

Thanks Valuthor, as said, the major effort would be on upgrading the PC Improvement model, which was kind of a last minute add in Maelstrom.

Also, there was a major and significant change to Sabotage orders in Maelstrom design which was one of many things we ran out of time on, so has not yet been implemented. Essentially, you can sabotage a specific improvement, and if its level 1, it is destroyed or possibly out of service, needs repair (a new order), and a higher level one like Greater Castle might be reduced to Castle until repaired. Yes, some of the improvements need to have the full design intention implemented.

I'd add something I want to do is a distinction for a pre-battle magic phase in the battle results.  So you can see and understand why leader Alpha isn't around or why spell X didn't go off.

2, weapon artifacts and fleet increase limitations for kingdoms that start with high quality fleets

Please attach an updated rulebook to the rules tab at the top of website forum, it dated back to 2nd cycle.
