Would this be the time to point out that I'm probably the biggest purchaser of Alamaze games since the relaunch?

Please don't assign kingdoms for players who haven't stated their choice yet. Frost and LD haven't chosen so Amazons and Halflings are still available for the two new players who have yet to decide.
The new website is nearly complete as of today, only spells and kingdom special abilities (e.g., DE gate) and 3rd Cycle traits (e.g., regeneration order from the healing trait) have to be coded but there are ALOT of spells to do so I may not get all of them done in time.
Also, this test game may be brief, maybe 10-20 turns or so, just to verify that the website is working properly. The REAL test is the upcoming Beta with all of the 3rd Cycle effects being in place and kingdoms fully coded. Ry Vor will be running that one where I'd imagine Imperators have preference so hang in there DuPont, Beta will be here before you know it...

Assign any way you like UM. I was only trying to help. LD asked to play a new kingdom that is not pirates or Amazon, so only leaves halfling. Rick seemed to want the amazons played so I put frostlord there. I personally do not really care what I play myself so if you would like to make nomad available to one of your mystery guests I would have no problem playing DW or WA

Mike had a good idea of getting a couple old Fall of Rome players involved at this point who did play Alamaze a bit at the Resurgence, but that was when input was in Excel, program in Clipper, results were at least in PDF and not bad compared to .txt. No order checker, and not this kind of interface. Want to get their impressions on how far we have come. Many of us can remember the number of player errors in input then compared to now. Also there was not the Valhalla we have now or the Bananas Splitter (map and turn parsing). Then of course we want the more current players' impressions on the feel of the interface and new (mainly) kingdoms compared to what we have as of, ah, today.
Of course, its not like the game itself is simpler than Fall of Rome, or 2nd Cycle for that matter. We're up to about 100 spells now, 20 some traits, TBD on artifacts (new ones not likely to make this test, or the revisions to existing artifacts for that matter), close to 60 brigade types from about 25 in 2nd Cycle, brigade experience levels, presentation of results, new tactics - lots of other stuff.
I gave Mike just a bit ago the kingdom special abilities for the Necromancer. I hope to get the Illusionist set tomorrow and complete the new spell descriptions.

UM,
Is this the next round of beta testing or is this something totally different?

The two main points of this brief excursion are:
1. Feedback on the new player interface;
2. Feedback on the feel of the new kingdoms and any new spells and abilities in place during this test.
This test game is a prelude to the beta, will likely go 10 to 12 turns. It's about discovery, not winning. Testing the new stuff, even if it isn't what you would normally do. During that time, we will continue on coding and design. Then I believe we will have a mostly complete game and begin the beta. That might be the more appropriate time to move to a M-W-F schedule. There we think players can play as a competitive Alamaze game and we'll focus on anything that doesn't seem right, and finish any loose ends.
And then begin The Choosing.

Both Diamond and Frost Lord were not showing favorites, and the focus is on new kingdoms. So to get this pretty close to done, I will make a couple executive decisions.
DuPont has the Pirates.
HeadHoncho is switched to the Atlantians.
The FoR players were too nervous to get in. So I believe we have one spot left that to not start a food fight, I will assign to Mad Mardigan unless he declines. So he will check out the Warlock of the Talking Mountains. The rest is as the above.
Mike I believe still intends to start around Halloween, ironically.

I am good with the Hobbits. Looking forward to it. I really want to check out the new order checker for real.
