What a disaster of a game
First there was the debacle of an invasion against the NE. I could have sworn I saw some sign the WA was attacking as well, but I guess not. I was fighting (and loosing emmys) to the PI throughout the entire game. I would have been out of the game entirely if it hadn't been for a bungled order on the NE side that allowed me to decimate his main group.
I think my highest level wizard at the end of the game was a P4. My guess is that the WA sat back and built his wizards and then just crushed. That's probably a better strategy than recruiting like crazy and trying to invade the NE on T6. Lol.
Congrats again.
Yea. Surprised you went after my Oakendell holdings so strong in the beginning. I would have been fine with just a couple of villages on top of my hidden capital at EA. That was a big surprise to me- unable to go for Avalon since I was oit of reach- and forced my hand to focus on Mystery and adjoining regions. Both the SO and DU wouldn't give up on owning every single popcenter in their regions- which of course I found unacceptable. The result was they both got picked at the whole game.
Where was the DU capital? I spent about 15 orders looking for it Mid game then finally gave up, since I was having so much fun popping RD emmys every turn. :-)
Btw- Pirate is basically made to fight the RD- his power is nullified against you. I sat in my various Mystery centers and also raided his land centers over and over and over. Any time he was in intercept range I would either take my division invisible or move my army group out to sea.
I think all kingdoms combined made over 100 escape attempt orders with only one success- the RD king escaped. I had a lvl 4 agent on standing guard duty which made it almost impossible for people to escape.

Yep, 2 in a row. Maybe I can name a City.
PS. I was two turns away from popping the NE capital at CI- that was my next move.

EA? Dang, should have tried to find that. As I've found in a couple other games, finding hidden capitals is hard. The changes to emmys getting eaten by lions makes it harder. Finding the PI capital is almost ridiculously hard unless someone gets really lucky. I didn't even try to find your capital because it could have been almost anywhere. Yes, I decided early in the game that I didn't want to share my region with the PI. If your capital had been in some other region, I figure that strategy would have worked.
As it was you played a great game, congrats!

RD. I came in 4th against a tough field in this championship game. Here is what happened from a worldview.
1 - RD High Council 47,500. BL ally PI. HC issue - RD raise influence. For 30 turns, issue was always to raise influence, so will just say who got issue from now on. And every issue passed except turn 24 and 29.
2 - AT HC 25,001. HC issue - RD.
3 - PI HC 29,001. HC issue - AT. No early taking of regions.
4 - AN HC 17,501. HC issue - AT. RD enemy GN. Regions 2-10 all taken (only surprise is RD in 7 instead of GN).
5 - BL HC 495 (nice steal). HC issue - RD. Region 1 goes to DU (now all are taken). Only GN and PI do not own one. GN enemy RD.
6 - HC issue PI. Status at end of turn 6 order: DU, IL, RD, AT, DA, SO, NE, PI, AN, WA, BL, GN.
7 - HC issue BL. DU enemy PI.
8 - HC issue RD. SO enemy PI.
9 - HC issue AT. Food increased in 3.
10 - HC issue AT. Food increased in 9.
11 - HC issue BL. NE enemy WA.
12 - HC issue BL. WA enemy NE. Status order at end of 12: PI, SO, DA, IL, DU, RD, AN, NE, WA, AT, BL, GN.
13 - HC issue BL. WA enemy DU, DU enemy NE, SO enemy RD. Food increased in 2.
14 - HC issue PI. PI rel skeleton on DU (drops DU reaction in 1 - only listing reaction if seems like relevant region). GN eliminated or dropped.
15 - HC issue RD. Region 4 goes neutral. AT drops while owning region 6 (which now goes neutral) and a HC seat opens.
16 - NE HC 40,005. HC issue BL. Food increased in 1. RD gains region 4 (first to own 2 regions). SO eliminated or drop.
17 - HC issue NE. BL enemy RD.
18 - HC issue RD. RD enemy BL. WA gains region 6. Status in order: PI, RD, IL, WA, DA, NE, AN, DU, BL. (GN, AT, SO all out).
19 - HC issue NE. Food increased in 1. Scandal on BL - off HC.
20 - DA on HC for 55,500. HC issue NE. Food increased in 2.
21 - HC issue RD. DA takes region 10. AN enemy DA and DA enemy AN.
22 - HC issue RD. NE ally RD. Food increased in 2.
23 - HC issue RD. Torvale goes neutral (was RD). Amberland also neutral (was BL).
24 - HC issue NE. RD gains 4 back. PI releases skeleton on RD - off HC. AN drop or eliminated (2 seats open). Status order: PI, WA, RD, DA, IL, NE, DU, BL.
25 - WA HC 61,500. HC issue NE. NE takes region 1 from DU.
26 - RD HC 67,500. HC issue RD. WA takes region 5 (now has 3 regions). RD enemy PI.
27 - HC issue RD. NE releases skeleton on DU. Scandal cast on NE (drops NE reaction in 2).
28 - HC issue RD. DU takes back region 1. Region 5 goes neutral.
29 - NE HC 60,005. HC issue NE. Busy turn. DA enemy IL. PI skeleton on WA. NE skeleton on DU. PI skeleton on RD. Region 1 goes neutral. WA gains region 2 (back to 3 regions). DA gains region 8 (now he also has 3 regions). WA = 2, 3, 6. DA = 8, 9, 10. RD = 4, 7. Open are 1 and 5. HC has 2 open seats.
30 - BL on HC for 1 gold. HC issue NE. PI skeleton on RD. WA takes region 5 for the Rex.
So, I led the aggression early on and had a lot of fun until the PI started war of attrition on my emissaries. I was fighting in 5 to slow down the WA, but the PI hit me hard in 4 and 7 so I had to bring all of my troops back to take towns and villages back.
Congratulations once again to VBM, for back to back championships. Also to Acererak for a very strong PI game. And to Canticar for the DA podium. And actually, to all who finished. Tough game.

Congrats to VBM! I concur this was a disaster of a game! I lost leaders and wizards left and right in trying to complete Unusual Sightings early on; the dice had a vendetta against me! Then I had a missed turn entirely because I didn't realize Ready Enabled games didn't send warnings about orders not being ready near the deadline. Then I had the DU, PI, and WA periodically taking random pot shots (denigrates, kidnappings, sleeps, etc.) on my kingdom without ever really committing to war). And then a bizarre invasion by the DU that fell flat. Then when I finally had the DU cornered, I issued all my attack and combat spells on the WRONG Druid group so instead of crushing him, I was surprised, all my spells failed, and he routed me. Had I taken him there, I would have been able to return to counter the WA in the N. Mists but I was mangled and completely out of position trying to mop up the disaster in Oakendell when the WA finally came calling.
The PI did a great job of making me believe it was the DU that had been kidnapping my people/artifacts during the game so all my wrath went to him. He was aggressive in the early game in the N. Mists so I figured his capital was in Sea of Terror which I why I felt in necessary to shut him down so hard (which then provoked his wrath against me); and he went away... or so I thought. It was also because of this that I opted to go after the DU instead of the WA; so from the NE perspective, the PI really helped the WA win

Where was your capital? Dying to know! But yea, knowing what you know now you probably understand much more why I kept at it. Both you and the NE could be hit over and over at will from EA. At one point I had 4 lvl 17 agents plus various 13, 15, 11 etc.
