Nice going by the Jon Doe team.  You managed to get a turn or two ahead of us  (Uncle Mike's Team) and we just could not catch up.
Thanks Uncle Mike for the lessons with invisible divisions that teleport.  It's makes for an interesting game.

Hey guys, strongwill here, I played the BL in this first ice age game. I was joined by Jon Doe (SO), and Rellgar (GN). Both were outstanding teammates and I would suggest either as a teammate.

As a team we decided I would secure R5, SO would secure R4, and GN would secure R7. We each moved fairly quickly and obtained our initial territories. Now the ice age scenario, did hamper troop types recruited, but we decided the BL could do well with his starting brigades and Bats as recruits. We took full advantage of tot with GN’s ability. I had moved almost everything, within a few turns of taking R5, to the R1 boundary. We had most of the populations mapped out in the region, save the hidden populations.

Turn twelve saw me, the BL, take R1 from the DU, this wasn’t as easy as it might have seemed, I lost a Duke and Gov I think by the UN, in R1. I got lucky and we found the DU hidden capital and took it, I knew his new capital would relocate to the city so my biggest force met him there when it fell. While I was fighting in R1, Jon Doe and Rellgar had already set eyes on R2 and R8 (which had populations being destroyed by someone). After I took the region, I started to move my emissaries and units toward R2.

Now we as a team thought we started our assault on R2 and R8 a turn to late. I moved all I could into R2, including moving my biggest army on the NE capital. A few turns before this, I had purchased governors and made them into barons to utilize my political strength, I had lost some high ranking emmies in R1 battle. I even made me ESO on the final turn allowed.

I unleashed on R2 getting substantial, I took the NE capital and fought two of his groups with big wizards, I easily killed the troops but suffered loses on his summon which hurt. I knew his new capital moved to the city. The same turn I took his capital I moved my army to his new capital city. When I got there the WA had two units waiting on me, division size, and again I killed both groups troops but lost 3 brigades on a summon We should have won the game, on turn 19 however I neglected to ward an emmisary in a town, and we did not get the region or win. My main group down to 7 brigades was on the city with three WA brigades and bunches of wizards (little bastards) and Jon Doe and his SO had shown up with his army group and division to lend a hand with these wizards. So I decided to fight all the groups and continue the siege. JD was going to cast against his wizards, and then the fluff happened!! Lol. JD’s best wizards died with a 50/50 chance on them all, so his assault against the city saw his troops die there. While my group survived and kept the siege on. You see I had nothing else to attack with all I had left, except for a weak, leaderless group in R1. Remember this is ice age and troops eat what little food u have. Well that’s when some post on the game went up and then back down?

I used two HP to bless two emmies, two ward spells on two others, the city now had 4 NE units 4 WA units and 2 SO units and my little 7 brigade unit.. lol I attacked all of them and continued the siege (on the final turn I had my three warlords left in the group). Those units ranged between patrols and divisions, with all the wizards you could want to see in a game. But we won the game.

The lack of political attack against me in R2 and R5 led to our win, the focus was on my group and the NE city, should not have been. The DE had a Army group in R5 and took a pop center, then he disappeared, two turns before we won? I didn’t understand that. The only explanation I could see was that the NE/WA/DE team had too much out of place, in other areas to move in R2 or R5. Would like to know more on their strategy. Once again the UN gave us headaches and I was lucky my GN ally and SO could take down R8. I’m sure I left somethings out also. Cudos to Jon Doe, will take a beating to advance the team..

Great game thanks for all who played and finished.

I played the UN in this game along with the DU and NO. First of all, I felt we didn't do that well in the draft and having out team divided as it was (and the NO surrounded) was not looking good. My plan as the UN was to take a few pop centers in #4, sit tight and slowly raise my agents and find artifacts. And do what I could to help out the NO. This worked for a few turns - I picked up a trio of villages in #4 and was content with that and the DU got his region while (as expected) the NO was under mass attack. But then the SO/BL/GN team started attacking. I really am not sure why - it's possible the DU did something to piss them off or they felt they wanted the few pop centers I had and sensed our teams weakness. Either way, the end result was that from then until the end of the game, my goal was to keep stinging them, something I had not had any plans to do at all. They still won, so congrats to them, though it was a near thing as I was one botched emmy movement away from taking control of #4 away from the SO.
The UN has advantages and disadvantages in Ice Age. Because he's not a military power, the food issue hurts less than most. But because of the overall shortage of gold, there is a lot less training of agents than usual and so he's got a really limited source of income - I was not able to advance my wizards very much. At one point, I was down to two pop centers and had the SO out side of one and the BL outside of the other - I thought I was going to get bounced into my sanctuary but the BL's attack on my town failed - I think because the SO hit my capital city first and bounced the capital back to the town, making it a harder take. That was one of the few real breaks I got in the game!
I enjoyed the format - I think our team would have done better if we'd been closer together. Also, one of our team members wound up on a cruise ship with no internet, so the other had to then take over his position. Congrats to the winning team!

DuPont, we thought we would not get the win on the last turn. We thought you had R4 on us. Your team was picked, on or about turn 4, as our target, and for the same reasons you said. DU in R1 had very minimal help from the NO, and the UN wasn’t a military power so we liked our chances there.

You played an awesome game bro, very good job. And yes my group took a beating on your last pop center, it had just barely enough to succeed, and then it failed. That group was supposed to combine that turn with biggest group in R2 but failed to get there because of moral loss. Thanks for staying with it, maybe we can get another game going soon.

This was a mentor game and in my team of DE/NE/WA Uncle Mike was the mentor and gets credit for most all of the planning.  He would come up with multiple suggestions and the three of us would decide which path to take.  We decided early on that the above three positions would be our first choices and we were very lucky to get them all in spite of picking third.  Our team had myself (Wookie), playing DE for the first time, Wayde playing NE, and WA was played by Uncle Mike (A.K.A. the Wise One).
Plan A was to take out the Druid.  We had quickly found his town in the Mist and as he never made any attempt to remove his second group WA set up to take it out.  This was done  and it was a perfect surprise attack  with no losses for WA and total destruction of the 2nd DU.  Just as this was happening the BL/GN/SO team attacked region 1.  Rather than continue our plan to attack region 1, which would now have us fighting 2 teams, we changed course and went after the IL/LI/RD team.
After a bit of re positioning, we attacked Arcania.  WA quickly took the RD capitol, then took it again the following turn pretty much capturing everything.  NE was also taking or plundering pc's as was another WA group, and the DE Princes were active too.  Shortly we consolidated for DE to get control for our 4th region.  We were getting ready to attack regions 6 and 10 for the win when we discovered that both LI and RD had dropped and we were not sure about IL.  At this point we all decided that rather continue against a dropped team and a likely but hollow victory, we would change paths yet again and go after the Jon Doe team of BL/GN/SO.
We needed 2-3 turns to change fronts again and invade Amberland.  We never got the chance as we were hit in the Mist by a well planned BL attack and in Arcania by GN the following turn.
GN managed to take over Arcania over several turns and destroyed my DE reaction so I used the DE Princes against Runnimeade to throw him off of his game.  At the same time my groups continued against region 6 as I already had major holdings there.  WA and NE started the counter attack against BL in the Mist.
On turn 17 WA was at the NE capitol, the city, with two divisions of skeletons and wizards, trying to hold off the attack of a BL army group.
Turn 18 saw all of the WA troops wiped out but the leaders and wizards survived and knocked the BL army groups down to 7 brigades with one of two summon death spells working.  WA had saved the capitol for another turn but now SO showed up with an army group and a division - oh crap!
Turn 19 WA went after the SO wizards and managed to kill two out of three spells.  That team had the SO attacking the city and without his top wizards his attack fizzled and most of the troops were lost.  Pc's were falling to BL emissaries though and control was nearly lost.  DE had picked up region 6 against the dropped LI but GN had Arcania and was retaking his lost Pc's in region 7.
Turn 20 saw the NE forces now in the capitol with all four groups which were two divisions and two patrols.  WA had all four of his groups there, mostly patrols.  The BL still had an army and SO had two weakened groups.  The battle that followed saw all of the BL/SO troops killed - I think the leaders on both sides survived but BL had managed to get enough Pc's in the Mist to control the 6th region and the game was theirs.

In this game I give the Jon Doe team credit for a game well played by all three players.  On our team The Wise One taught Wayde and I an awful lot and his planning was spot on just about every time.  Mike's knowledge of the game never ceases to amaze me.  It was a privilege and a pleasure to play with both of them.
To the UN and NO, thanks for going the distance guys.  You set a good example for the rest of us.
