Maelstrom Test Game
Thanks Rick and UM.

I think Rick really said what I was missing and not understanding. in the future the fortress and be an option for those that really want to have maximum defenses.

as for buildings in does create an interesting twist that they are one time bonuses. perhaps wait on that port until you have some really good economics going.

It's a better investment to do PC improvements on food and gold. Unless you want higher quality fleets.

It depends on the current production of your pop center.  As an example a pop center that produces 10k food and 20k gold would gain 5k food and 10k gold when a port is added.  It would take 15 improvement orders to raise production by this much.  The cost of these orders would be 45k food and 60k gold.  The cost of a port is 30k gold and 60k food.  Use your own judgement but I think the port is a better option and it only took 1 order not 6 or more.

If you say so, my math works a bit differently. I would rather do improvements for 2 turns within the first 4 turns, Then after 10-30 turns build a granary.

Can anyone verify that after building a Citadel at a city (defense 30k) the City defense is reduced when you add a Castle (defense 15k)? I like the defense of the Citadel but dont want to lose the bonus when moving to the Castle.

I'm not trying it. There are many things to still test, but the test game was ended. We still have 2 paid test games going. Try it in one of those.

Not verified but Rick did say the next update would address the issue of citadel and fort

The real question is how many turns of hidden ore with 3 P3 do you do before adding a Port. :-)

As many as you can and are still able to do what you need to do.
