I'd throw out the idea of several returning players joining two veterans (like those that have posted on this thread) acting as mentors to the long departed returnees in our Primeval format.
Primeval is six players, six kingdoms. It is a lot more forgiving, more space, more chance to try different orders, and with full communication it allows a lot more learning opportunities.
Not insisting, just an option. Mentor players would not consume a slot.
Oh, for newbies, a "slot" is related to service level. At Scout Level Service, you have one slot, that is, one game at a time. At Warrior Level Service, you have two, so two games simultaneously. Everyone starts at Scout, you won't be invoiced until your first game starts, at $9.95 a month, so a minimum of 10 turns with standard 72 hour turn cycle.

Ry Vor,
I see a lot of us are new/not new players would love to help out but wouldn't want to "disadvantage" them as we are not true veterans of the game.

We do have a couple other new/returning players in the wings. Maybe we should give it a day to decide between Primeval or a Steel game.
Meanwhile, yes, those who have not Dueled should do so.

I choose pistols at 30 paces!
I am willing to play but do not feel I know enough yet to be a mentor. I do know enough to duck when looking down the barrel of a dueling pistol though. That advice is for free. You all have to pay for the next one.

Just pick a region in between Painted and Brekk. It is the safest place in the map.
They both run away well.

I would echo what Brekk said. Both he, and I along with a few others have returned/picked up Alamaze in the last several months. Brekk and I did a duel and it helped each of us out as we emailed and chatted throughout the game and helped each other get up to speed quite a bit.
I will dual with anyone and am happy to make the duel a learning one and not about slaughter, and I will gladly jump in a game with returning players as well. Most of the experienced players have been amazing with those of us being noobs and didn't target and slaughter us in our early games. In my early games, I battled with other newer players and started earning my battle scars with a little bit of grace from the experienced guys. Those mentor and team games helped a ton as well.
I also have tons of respect for the experienced players for all their help, and also for people I have battled against like Brekk (meanie who stopped my Black Dragons), Painted Man (who I have both been spanked by and spanked), Styrlian, and Valuthor.
So if a new game starts with a bunch of returning players, then count me in as it would be fun to return the favor of those like Draugr, Rellgar, DuPont, Vball, and so many others who helped get me up to speed.

My blood, your blood, what difference does it make!
