Anyway, it’s clear what you did. Bluster and babble and distract but you know your intentions. The wizard “reveal” was during a comm turn. That’s the point. My “bullying” in character is during comms turns. You told everyone what you would do for a specific scenario on the turn it occurred during a non comm turn. That is not smack talk.

Owww. My butt hurts.

Yeah, well, I didn't want to say anything but Five Finger Harry's brother has a name we can't really share in polite company, has to do with having three legs.

Dude, I assure you it was not my intention "make a deal" covertly, I was just bragging to him that I could have beaten him if I had attacked.  However, I will try and be more careful in the future.

I'm still bring down the dragon empire though.

Fair enough.

RD is interesting. Haven’t played them in a while. As everyone sees, unbeatable in the early game, but serious limitations start to show mid-later game like now in awful magic, really expensive troops and since you spend so much early money recruiting rather than building economic base and fortifying just set up for a slow decline. So that’s where I see it going.

Hail mighty, foul dragon king! The pesky Rangers here. Now seeing the big picture? We told you 2 things: We won't give up and none of our two kingdoms will win if we continue fighting, but our neighbors will take advantage of the situation. Took a little bit longer than what we Rangers would have hoped for, but see where we are now?

RA - EL
We are sorry for the intrusion in your land, and for retaking the Town of Four Winds earlier on, but we needed to get a new base fighting the flying beasts, and seeing you hadn't yet claimed the town when we left it, we thought you had left the lands for good. This just to assure you we don't have any grudge with you elves and we don't have any intentions, if not for very pressing reasons, to invade your lands again.

OOC
Acererak, I do not 100% agree that the RD are unbeatable early game, I do think that e.g. the Rangers, the Cimmerians/Amazon/Tyrants and possibly even some other kingdoms have a fighting chance in the early game in an all-out traditional 1on1 war with the Reds.

Without going into any details (don't want to share any info that might help our fellow players at this stage, we can come back to that post-game if needed), I do think that without a couple of small mistakes on my part, and mostly the fact that you were on the lucky end of the coin-flip saving your king when we both took each others capital (on T5 I think it was), it would have been a very close call who had come out on top. Actually, as a side-note regarding this a question to you all: Does it indeed work this way that when you take another players capital, if the king get caught he is immediately transfered to your current capital, BEFORE the game engine resolves the next group vs. PC battle? I would have thought any prisoners were placed in your capital closer to the end of turn sequence...but as in this case when we both attacked the capital on the same round, and according to my turn report both captured the others king, I still ended up with my king imprisoned, whilst the RD ended up with his king free (and no report on the RD actually freeing the prisoner). So my conclusion would be that my battle against the capital resolved first, I captured the RD king as reported and then immediately sent him to my capital. THEN the RD attack on my capital resolved, he captured my king and at the same time also freed his own king. And if the order of battle would have been the other way around, I would have kept my king and imprisoned the RD king? Can anyone confirm that this is how the turn sequence resolves? Very well, my point beeing that I do think that the RD has a good chance of having a very good early game, but not necessarily unbeatable.

And just to make this clear also: I haven't in any way colluded or otherwise communicated out of this open forum with the Elves, Halflings (or any other player in this game for that matter) even if I tried to give the impression that somebody else might be thinking of attacking the RD (which eventually happened, but a little bit too little, too late for my Rangers). It was just me trying to "play" the mind of the RD king and trying some all-in diplomacy, which obviously wasn't so successful on my part Wink  I honestly don't know if a peace would have been good for the RD at the point one was offered, but my guess is that the RD actually might have been better off in this mid-end game if he would have accepted the peace-offering. I would for sure have been better off with the Rangers Wink My point here is that I think that 2 military kingdoms IN GENERAL are not that well off for the end-game if fighting each other in the very beginning (especially if one plays as I tend to do even if on the recieving end - i.e. play to the last man and not giving up). This has been my experience for the couple of games I have played Maelstrom, but since I'm fairly new it might be that my impression is wrong?

All in all: A Happy New Year to all my fellow players & let's all have fun even if we are fighting each other in-game Smile

RD- Come on man. You haven’t won a single battle and lost your capital going on 5 times now. You took mine once.

You’re saying it could have better for me to give up the entire region of Krynn to you- I had tight control for near 10 turns until you took a village so that you wouldn’t snipe a village or two from me every other turn?

Truly dizzying logic.

So far the hobbit stole gold from me twice and hit me with a cold darkness. I’d hardly see that as you being prescient. Now, will the IL or someone else attack me shortly? Sure. Could be. They will make some gains no doubt. They will also get hit back. Are there better targets is the question. But it was still the right choice to destroy you and control 2 regions the past 10 or so turns.

If I have to chase you and take back a village or two every few turns then so be it. If you want to do any soul searching on woulda coulda, it’s clear you should have taken my offer. All I asked was two villages and you could have had the rest of Krynn. Instead your entire kingdom is and has been 2 villages.

I'd have to grudgingly agree with Ace on that note.  No one really begrudges you your second region, and there is no sense letting every one of your neighbors build up, its good strategy to take one out early.   Its the third region that people start to notice, that's why I've been taunting him, once he takes my region... which I really don't need because my capitol produces more than a region, then people will start to notice and move on him. Smile

Who said I'm taking your region? I'm just wiping out a few pcs and I'll be on my way. Gotta get back home to defend what is surely going to be a "sneak" attack by someone else on the board.

Why would anyone sneak attack a kingdom with an 8 range movement? Masochism?

If you’re referring to the dragon, I was barely involved.

(RD) Missed the majority of a turn for the second time this game. For all the new players- this is the worst way to play the game. Sigh.
