Our kingdoms share a love for gold.  Rumor is that only the UN hoard gold as if they were dragons!

Always appreciate having a good rapport with the UN.  Your guild merchants are definitely welcome to discuss contracts with my Chief Thrall.

My dragons should have full stomachs through the Autumn thanks to the generosity of the Druid.  But during Winter . . . my dragons shall still need to eat.

Id suggest those short fat gnomes for food..they dont raise your blood sugar as much!

What special way is there to cook a gnome?  Just apply fire and . . . crunch once, right?

Just need the Ancient Ones to say "Ready."

What could they possibly be contemplating?

Greetings.  We deal in death in intrigue and formally announce to the land that we are for hire.  Please don't take it personally.  Our suggestion is that you make use of a contract before your enemy does.  We do open ended contracts and closed ended contracts, paid for monthly or lump sum, any especially craven murder requests do cost more.

We plan to take all population centers in our region - self declaring them would be appreciated and we can time the double taxation to ensure you get the full benefits.

UN-RD

I see you are well looked after this Season.  I will be a viable trading partner for you in the future please keep us in mind and will commit to season long contracts.

UN-AM

I would like to extricate some VIPs from my town in your region but I have not located an option to move to yet.  Can you give me a turn before your lovely ladies swoop in?  PS If you are looking for some easy and fast cash we have part time openings in the Bronze Canyon Brothels.  The Ancient Ones pay top dollar.

AM-UN, you have a coulpe of turns

The leaders of the Ancient Ones are wise, and weigh every decision thoroughly.

Naah, I was actually out for a real life late evening yesterday with some friends (first time since long I might add), and now just woke up (it’s morning here in Europe atm). But getting on it now first thing, although with a somewhat heavy head  Rolleyes

Good for you Dwellomir.  I hope you had a great time with your friends!

Question: How many Standing Orders can we issue without control of a region?  And how many after control of a region?

Question: What is the rule of thumb most people use for attacking PCs? My hazy memory is we wanted about 2 to 1 group strength versus the popcenter, but would adjust that up or down a bit depending upon the defense of the troops, spells available, missile fire, etc...  Is this still the broadly applicable principle?

On the standing orders, can't remember if it is 3 or 4 and it does vary by kingdom. One of the great things about the order checker is that you just keep adding standing orders until the order checker gives you an error message. Same method after controlling a region.
As for the attack numbers, yes, 2x is a good rule of thumb, though numerous spells really reduce that number. I have seen a strong mage kingdom take Stormgate with less than the city value with all of the right factors put together.

Is the next rank after Major General Marshall?

[Sorry for all the basic questions.]

Yep, this is the answer I got from unclemike when I asked the same a couple of weeks ago:
“In 4th Cycle, it's 4 standing orders plus 3 per region unless your kingdom has the Forethought trait which increases it to 6 standing orders plus 4 per region.”

And yes, 2:1 ratio is the one I’ve been thought as well, seems to be quite good general rule of thumb. But as VballMichael already said, it does depend on many factors (magic, artifacts etc.), which is not included in the value vs. PC you see, whilst bonus from leaders, moral, attrition, kingdom terrain bonus and terrain type is already counted in in the value you see. Not sure about bonus from forged weapon though...
