2020 Championship Gsme

I think just use status points as a tie breaker.  You could have someone that just did a building game and never fought anyone getting a kingdom on status points.  I say   stay with the podium point system.
Let's do our best to keep this thread civil too.  Except for trash talking Painted Man.  I really do like him though and will loan him a shovel or waders to work though the muck we are throwing his way Dodgy

If it's too difficult to determine who should play in a championship game then how about mimicking the football playoffs? In other words, disregard Valhalla statistics which aren't always fair to everyone (e.g., how many times have you played and thought you should have won but didn't due to the random chance of being attacked by another while you were away conquering a region). The ebbs and flows of a random game but not always fair to everyone or a measurement of their skill level. So how about we have two playoffs games (or three smaller primeval games to avoid duplicate players in the playoffs) where everyone participates then the top 12 finishers in those games play in the final championship game. That way, everyone has a chance at qualifying regardless of the random luck that the Valhalla stats don't reflect in our games.

Wow Unclemike, cool suggestion. But jumping on that #bashpaintedmantrain, that suggestion will need to be written in crayon for painted to understand it.... Smile

I'd say thats a great thought uncle Mike, but I for one might not be willing to play additional games just to get into a game I might not even have time for to start with.  I think that we must start with the assumption, whether it be true or not, that performance during the year qualifies you.  Having said that, I personally may never qualify again for a championship  game.  I wanted to win some games, so I won a couple, now I play for different reasons and may never win again.  But last year, when it counted for the championship, I played some games to win, and I won.  If I dont win next year. I would not expect a chance to be in the championship based on some kind of playoff.

Again, just my opinion, but the championship should be about performance, that year, not potential performance.

Well what if we just made a list of top 12, and not assign the kingdom they played or region. Just take the top 12 from the year and start a random snake draft with those players like any other game? If one of the 12 isn’t up for it or is taking a break go down the list to the next until it’s filled? Just a thought.

I would be fine with something as simple as this, but I also like the idea of people having scored the highest with a particular kingdom having "dibs" on those kingdoms.  I guess the question is picking the top 12.

People who won a game?  There are 9 of those.  (if there were more than 12, then those who won the most games, tiebreakers by total score?)

After those who won a game... total score?  Or maybe those who managed to place second?  If more than 12, then tiebreaker is total score?

Based on Wookiess suggestion I kind of now agree maybe someone who placed second (best finish) should edge out someone who came in third place 3 times (total score)

But, I think we are getting somewhere.

Can you list the nine who have won? That should start the list.
