DuPont's PI started stealing from my CI early on leaving me no choice but to attack him.  The rascal played the perfect Pirate and survived 40 turns.  Well done DuPont!

I had planned on just building a wizard kingdom in the Diamond Coast, since there were no wizards in this game.

I might have made a teensy mistake, however, instigating Drogo's Elves in Nyvaria who came after me early. I had taken his town and executed his governor, but... So this was before turn 10, I think, and his army group would take my minor city and some villages, but I'd take them back, and didn't lose any emisaries. I avoided group battle more than once I recall with Ancient Intervention which will become a theme. I got the ring of spells early, so the intervention didn't cost as much gold as it would have.

I took the offensive to Nyvaria and nabbed the Plow which Drogo had in a northern village. Now we're cooking with gas. Sent that to my hidden capital (which no one ever found) and started food production increases, old school style. I landed my group on his capital and chased him to Bronze Canyon (which was nicely developed) then he dropped. That calls for a glass of prune juice.

About this time the Red under Dakaria came sniffing about Nyvaria. I had big economy going by now with relatively low army costs and two regions, and the plow, so Ancient Intervention was no big deal. Stopped him at the former Elf capital then Bronze Canyon and he left me alone. This is in the mid teens, I recall, and Red had a good chance to win. The Red had taken Pellinor from Breck's Demons, who retreated to Stormgate. Tyrant was making noise in the West, as well. Cimmerians looking strong. I thought a military kingdom would win, but I focussed on my mages. I started building a castle buster group, but without fear spell, that was going to be tough. I had the Ring of Spells, but needed to get to level 9 for Crack the Sky which would be expensive.

I started to take the battle to the Red in Pellinor, but the Demon's counterattack against Red seemed to be successful, and he denigrated me. Taking on two kingdoms in Pellinor didn't appeal to me so I pulled back.

About this time I evaluated threats, and the only one seemed to be the Ranger in Darkover. I denigrated him and he attacked. I guess I should have waited for it to go the other way. So once again, my groups dodged his, and I intervened when they caught up with me.

A funny incident happened when I went after Cornacopia with a bat group, only to find a Ranger Army Group (24 brigades) there too. Damn, I thought. He's going after Stormgate. I intervened and flew away, only to see in the chat this was a group intercept gone amiss (Ranger intercepted my and crossed the Waves of Azure by mistake). So the Ranger had to march back north, but I knew it would take him a couple of turns to get to Nyvaria.

I finally found his capital and counterattacked. Got his second group in a compromising position and whipped it good. Scorpions killed his leader and a level 5, which i think demoralized him and he dropped. This was about turn 33-34.

I had a huge economy and was inching up the status points. Red was still in the lead, but I was gaining. I had 3 or 4 legendary castles, and three regions, and thought I could just hold on for Lion's share, but saw an opportunity to go for the win and planned to take Stormgate (great castle) and Mythgar (Blackfire was the Red Capital and had a great castle, too).

So I decided to not take the Ranger (now human) capital even though it was pretty nice, and teleport to XU, and enamor the region to friendly (another nice AN trick- enamor or denigrate x4). I would take XU and the region, the teleport to Stormgate and take in on turn 39. The problem was I needed a level 9 and a level 8 in the same group and I only had one ring of spells, so this would take two wizards exceeding max level. I had the gold, not the time.

I screwed up the orders, though, and moved on the Human town, then the teleport didn't go. Oh well. I still might be able to declare on turn 40.

I noticed Corncopia was neutral as was the region because someone had recruited Stormgate down to the nib. (Demon? Maybe that's why he was able to successfully counterattack the Red with some spicy Stormgate Guard). I decided I could take Cornucopia and bump the pop on the last turn, instead of going after the city (where the Red capital would likely go if I took XU).

So I took XU and telported to MQ on turn 39- only to see Dakaria had pillaged it! Doh! nice move. No declared victory. So I turn 40 I build a bunch of fortresses and temples, and got the Lion's share.

Nice game everyone. I'm interested in learning about the great military battles between the AM, RD, DE, CI, and TY. As you can see above, I mostly hid from group battles. Mostly? Ha, all but one time, I think. My other groups had bats and Great bats so they basically flew all over Darkover nabbing villages and unfortified towns.

One more funny thing was Rellgar's Gnomes. He got beat out of Untamed very early, but had a town in Southern Nyvaria. I let it be, figuring he could be a nuisance to the Red as long as he didn't expand in Nyvaria. Nor did the Red ever squash that town.

That appeared to be Rellgar's plan, as well, and he was taking PC's back in Untamed by the end.

You know the scene in Lord of the Rings where Merry stabs the Witch King? That was the Rellgar, except Merry was a gnome, the Witch King was the Red Dragon, Eowyn was the Demon Princes and the Ancient One was Gandalf!

Lol, yeah that was me, I kept attacking and was a thorn in the Reds side until the end. No way I was going to let Red win. You guessed it correctly.

Red Dragons.

First things first.  Those long snouted, pointy eared pigmies with that smell of beer piss deserve a hell of a lot of credit for saving your miserable rumps.  Fricking annoying as hell.  Won't you just die???

The Gnomes of Rellgar were in last place from turn 3 through turn 40 and had to be down to one PC much of the game.  The relevance being he was occupying just enough resources to stop a blitz invasion of an early third region, and then was that freaking dragon fly buzzing about ceaselessly.

Next most credit to withstanding my onslaughts goes to Brek, he of the Demonic Types in this one and who it seems I am always in opposition to.  He's always bothering me and meddling in my plots.  You have to keep an eye on that one.

Ultimately applying the coup de grace was the skulking Ancient Ones.  Waiting.  Waiting.  Waiting.  Strike.

Turns 0 - 3.  Always exciting to see the setup and consider the possibilities.  Maybe specially so for a Red Dragon opening position. Well, this one was outstanding, as it turned out after turn1.  Lest I forget, the Red Dragon in Mythgar is strong.  Lots of early opportunity.  So it was here, starting capital in the south center of Mythgar, either a move for Zamora or Untamed Lands should be in the offing.  My group starting in Untamed discovered about half the PC's in Untamed flying back to the homeland on turn 1, including the Gnome capital.  His top nobles were at Blackfire, as one would expect.  So, I was merciful, and quick.  However, one family escaped and sought their vengence- see above praise.

Midgame.  So I took Untamed before Mythgar and as lucky as I was finding PC's in Untamed, the cute little places where the humans build their huts seemed to be hiding from me in Mythgar, but I think we had the second region on turn 7 or so.   I became a bit more aware of what was happening outside my current realm.  There were sorties all about, I think I had to set a Tyrant Army group on fire over the minor city in Mythgar and I claimed one village in the Sword Coast as compensation for my trouble and I don't believe we met again, sort of a border had been formed.

Its interesting how to interpret a player's commands in lieu of actual communication.  Especially in the early game some moves are just necessary rather than intending to start a war.

The majority of the game and the most Red Dragons attention turned to be an interesting cat and mouse game with the Demon Princes.  Quite a contrast in style, but my crushing at least a couple Demon Princes army groups so totally I was kind of embarrassed.  Twice I was pleased to have captured an ugly Demon Prince in the, eh, flesh.  Pellinor changed hands several times, Mythgar was neutral or dragon controlled, on and off.

I took Cornucopia at some point, and noticed not much had been done with Stormgate.  I would watch Stormgate but reasoned I could take it any time unless it looked like it would host a Legendary castle.  It was late in the game, around turn 36 when I finally realized the village had more population than Stormgate, which now had a great castle.  As Pine Needle wrote, I had to double tax Cornucopia, then destroy it in order to just defend the city to keep the region.

The Ancient One was sweeping in while I was chasing away the last of the Demon Prince riff raff.

I misplayed the endgame aside from the torch Cornucopia trick.  I had a slew of prisoners at Blackfire, which at great castle was not going to be defended adequately, even though I was flying there to take on turn 40.  The AN who was drowning in gold apparently had immediately upped Blackfire to Legendary to add to his collection, and it would have been interesting to attack it on the final turn with my 110k vs PC , 2 warlord, three P5 force vs. Legendary 190k Blackfire, but didn't.

Warlord Scatha won 20 battles, I ended with 4 Warlords, 4 Marshal class, four P5's, one P4, a L14 fanatic, four dukes, 15 elite and veteran Red Dragon brigades - I don't think we lost a Red Dragon Brigade during the campaign.

Congratulations to those who declared me enemy: Pine Needles Ancients, Brek's Demon Princes and the Gnomes of Rellgar - all great players.  Well done.

Great writeup Dakaria. Your armies were indeed fearsome.

That was a good game. The north west did not see much action until later in the game. After I took the Underworld I noticed the Tyrant had moved all his army groups to within easy striking distance of Krynn.

My plan was to stop attacking after I took Zanthia and go into hold and build mode. However, the Tyrant pushed north and I set up to intercept him. When he entered Krynn my 33 brigade army group intercepted his 28 brigade army group.

I had slightly better leaders and one more wizard. I thought this was going to come out pretty even for both of us with my slightly larger army coming out somewhat on top. Fortunately I think my 5 artifacts to his 2 made a huge difference. I routed the Tyrant army causing 72.65% casualties and losing only 3.65%. I pursued him when he fled and wiped out the rest of his regiments the next turn.

After that the Tyrant found my capital I was temporarily hiding in a village in the sea from his second army group and took it and all the prisoners I had taken from the Underworld. Doh! Thought losing all those points I was not going to finish well. The Tyrant was also annihilating my diplomats and agents. I got lucky and found his capital and retook all those prisoners on the last turn of the game. There were no more big army vs army battles after the first.

I like knowing the details so if anyone is interested the battle was in the plains consisted of:

1st Amazon
Warlord, Marshall, general
Power 6,5,4 wizards
7 Amazon elites
2 Amazon veterans
3 hill giant veterans

I dispelled his two spells with my power 6 and 5.

It was in the plains. Preferred terrain didn't hurt.
