New Alternate rules game!
#1
This game will feature one or more major changes that UncleMike has graciously agreed to make, and we will talk about and vote for in this thread.  I suggest a 24 anonymous game, just to get things going once we finally agree on the change, which may take some time.  I will post UncleMikes first suggestions and a couple variations:

1) Each Kingdom starts with a pow 8 wizard... there are no other wizards in the game.  (how about we make that guy a liche too?)

2) Each Kingdom has a wizard in their first group advanced to level 8, all other wizards are the same.

3) Each kingdom has double (triple, quadruple, or a set amount) of extra kingdom names added at game start.

Vote on these and add your own!!!

with 1 and 2, I foresee 12 bounties on turn 1.  maybe we should make both of these choices.... we'll need the extra food for the extra troops...  Thats my suggestion, 2 and 3.

Rick could come up with more ideas than me for game variations. He just gave me a ton of code changes to do which will take some time to develop but it shows that Rick still has his creative juices flowing again.

Regarding hidden cities, there's already an option in the Game Queue under the City Placement category for Random Cities (one per region) that everyone would have to find during gameplay.

For some general ideas:
- I post on the forum all artifact locations (artifact name and map area)
- I post on the forum all artifacts and pc's (including hidden capitals)
- no agents when the game starts though they may be hired later
- everyone starts off with a warlord in 1st group
- everyone starts off with +100,000 food/gold in treasury
- dare I say, all wizards become pwr-8

For other ideas, really, it's up to you in what type of game variation would be fun to try out!

UM, how bout ALL kingdoms start with hidden capital? All kingdoms have 5 groups? No “Fear” effect Entire game? Access for all kingdoms to recruit any and all companions troops and regional population troops, zero restrictions?

I won't be able to do any of those since they are governed by the software. I can only do things with the database, like lookup artifact locations or change a wizard's level and such.

Actually an agent game might be cool, instead of no agents, everyone starts with 4 level 10's.  You could do a whole power-game like that, everyone gets 11 pow 3 wizards (And one Power 8), 8 agents level 4 and 4 agents level 10, 12 generals or higher and 15 kingdom brigades, with 2 princes and 8 barons, 4 high priestesses to start.  Since you are still limited by orders it would be interesting to see how people allocate them.

Unfortunately, due to the differences in individual brigade strength, which we cant change, I think its probably pretty predictable that the military kingdoms would come out on top.

If you do a game with ONLY 1 p8 per kingdom I'm assuming you wouldn't be able to buy adepts via order # 511? Or would you?

I'm wondering what affect it would have on a game as a trial to give everyone some kind of Advanced Starter Package. Would this shorten 'Build Time' and start hostilities earlier? This package would hopefully provide something for all kinds of kingdoms, mage, military and everything in between. For example:

1) 100k Gold/Food
2) 1 Agent 7
3) 1 Power 5
4) 1 Count
5) 1 Marshal
6) 1 Fort (at capitol)
7) 1 Artifact (random - Fine)
8) 2 Pts Influence
9) 2 Kingdom Brigades - Elite

All would be considered 'additional'. Add or subtract from the list as you will.

I'm wondering how something like this would affect gameplay and kingdom selection. Might be fun to find out.

The issue with only 1 P* and no more wizards, it give pure military kingdoms a monsterous edge. Everyone having one to start would be cool though.
