What seemed like eons had passed, but the War That Was would never be forgotten. The galactic scourge that is Darkseid forgets nothing, and he had dispatched his minions long ago to trek the offending entities whose path had crossed his, all that so very long ago. Vast tracts of space had been crossed, and countless dimensions had been scoured in the Dark God's pursuit of that which he would not release from the debt that it owed him, the debt that it had incurred. While his minions did his bidding without question or hesitation, 'twas DeSaad the Demented whom Fate had dealt the winning hand. And a great cackling laughter emanated forth from the region of Darkover.

"How appropriate!" DeSaad mused aloud to himself, his contorted facial features a constant reminded of the pain that he had inflicted upon untold worlds. "Do these fools think that they can hide forever?"

Such a strange place for DeSaad the Sadistic to find himself transported to by Boom Tube. In some strange twist, DeSaad's consciousness had become inextricably intertwined with that of a warlock of this world. Even as he adjusted to his unusual garb and the merging of minds, wherein his own mind had swallowed and devoured whole that which was once the warlock's mind. And without missing a beat, DeSaad's gaze shifted, turning to and fro, until at long last it settled upon a place far to the south, where no resided, also, a druid.

Long had DeSaad looked forward to this day. For what was the power of a mere druid compared to the vast reservoirs of power of an Apokoliptian God of Torture?

This was no ordinary warlock.

The Alchemist pondered this strange posting as he reached for another ingredient.

"Hmmm, said he.  It appears the rookie Warlock is already kicking sand at the very veteran Druid.  Perhaps the Warlock will be wishing HE had a tree to hide behind."
