How to make Alamaze a more warlike game

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on how to go about making Alamaze a more warlike game.

I think that there are multiple different things that could be done, to ramp up the war factor of the game. To start things off, though, I'll pick just one, for now.

Allow any military commander to recuit troops.

Allow any military commander to recuit troops.

Remove the two brigade limit on recruiting troops. If there's census to recruit from, you can recruit. The whole turning the town neutral would make sense if you weren't paying top dollar for the recruits; as it is, a commander shows up, gives good jobs to the locals, and is promptly revolted against. 

Create a building, Barracks, that means recruited troops cost 25% more but start as Regular. Upgradeable to Military Academy, recruited troops cost 100% more but start as Veteran.
