So to keep it balanced, at least 80 points is needed. Or we could just go with 100.

Unless there are new start up kingdoms, the highest level mage a Kingdom starts with is a power 3. The cost of raising any mage above Power 4 wont be used.

You would use them consecutively. So you can raise a wizard you have at Pow-3 by 6 points to be Pow-4, then add 12 points to be Pow-5, then 9 more to be Pow-6.

Thanks Olorin, but how does that work? Customization is a select and receive. Would you need to select over multiple turns? Or is there just a risk that you choose to raise a wizard and if you missed a step you lose the points?

Would there be a limit to the number of times you could select an option? Would this replace the standard customization?

Thanks again

This was for Brekk's special game. The way we discussed it was as an initial choice, handed in to him for each kingdom. Since it is a hands on affair, Brekk would likely tell you if you messed up. I figured this set-up would only be used on a very few games in any particular year, so I am not being overly picky on it.

Nice job extrapolating all of that Olorin!

I believe that for this game, we should agree on four or five "packages," such as what gkmetty suggested, and each player chooses one or perhaps two of them.

The p-8 could be layered on top of that or not. Perhaps not, as we don't want too many changes (right?)

Brekk, we need you to make a decision on how we will customize the game. then we need to start the draft.

Have you all finalized the rules for the game? Do I need to make any decisions or calls to move forward, or is everyone in agreement with the rules?

Just a quick reminder: you can only modify what starts within your kingdom. For example, if you want a power 8 wizard, it will cost you an adept. Troops must be part of your groups or obtained by turn 3. Basically, I can modify what already exists but not create new elements—I hope that makes sense.

I also have a couple of clarification questions:

Are we using a point system? If so, what are the points and the exchange rate? Let me know, and I’ll include it in the first post.
What draft system are we using—snake draft, random, etc.?
Game speed—have you agreed to keep it shorter than 4 days?
Anything else that has been decided that I might have missed?

This is a special game, and I’m more than willing to put a significant amount of time into it because of your dedication and support for Alamaze. My primary goal is for everyone to enjoy the experience, so the last thing I want is any unnecessary disputes.
I’m flexible and can agree to packages, points—whatever works for the group. Just let me know if the choices will be kept secret or any other details I should be aware of. I only need clarity on the final "rules." If you need my help with anything, feel free to ask, and I’ll let you know what’s feasible.
Most importantly, I want it to be fun for everyone! I’m happy to arbitrate if needed to keep things running smoothly.
