For those of you who may be concerned about whether Alamaze is really coming back, I just received my setups and turn 0 reports for the initial 6-turn test game. I will be testing the Troll, Underworld, and Witchlord.
The plan to to try a little bit of everything to determine whether or not the game still functions as designed.

I have the Black Dragons, Demon Lords, and Dark Elves.
I've never actually played Alamaze; can see Fall of Rome's roots in it, so to speak, though.

Cool, glad to hear that it is almost here. I look forward to seeing some posts as to how it is working, and any other details you can share. I always like to read turn reports.

Diws,
The game is extremely similar to FOR but actually it's more advanced with all the different troop types/navy/magic... It's a superior game imo albeit made with simpler computers-
The Black Dragons are similar to the Huns. Dark Elf is a tough position but try your nobles out. Demon Princes are really good but you can be nailed by the Giants/Ancient Ones combo there in your Region. It's only a test game though
What's the turn around time on this one?

We hope for a 48 hour turn around, but David will run the turns when they all arrive.

Is it the same code that Pegasus was using? I hope there aren't m/any bugs! - The game always ran pretty smooth though even from the early days. I know that as years went by Phil fixed all the minor bugs it seemed.

It looks like the same game. There probably aren't any, or many, actual bugs in the code, but we need to find all the gotchas before the game opens up. Rick has to get the site, e-commerce, etc.. up and running as well. There my be some features of the game that Rick will want to update as well. He probably wants to practice running the games as well, although he hasn't said o.

Sooo . . .
Its been over 48 hours, your first turns should be in. I just thought I'd check in to see how it was coming along. Is the input and out put going smoothly? Everything working as intended? Have any questions for the peanut gallery?
Hope I am not being too pushy but I'm excited about the return.

I think they will be able to run games pretty soon Lucky.
I'm sure there will be a "transition period" where it goes from the old school PBEM to whatever Rick envisions.
I think the biggest hurdles early on will be formatting the game to run similar to FOR. The rules/orders need to be put up online and made presentable and whatnot.
They're going to do more "background" storyline stuff and I'm sure if you have ideas they will be glad to hear. Especially names for the characters that match the Kingdom flavor.
I dug out my old rules/maps and basically they have to get all of it back up online. It also probably needs to be polished. The stuff on pegasus old site is there and basically the same but remember they would still send rulebooks out and maps and everything- If were moving beyond that and online only a lot of work will need to be done. fortunately it's all pretty self evident stuff asides anything new added to the game.
I also think they need to get all of the Oracle articles up and available for prospective/active players to have reading material and see there's a good depth/history of the game.

Turn 1 has been processed, thanks to all the playtesters who are giving excellent feedback. A couple minor bugs have been identified which David indicates are easily fixed. Most of the rest is on improving the appearance (formatting of results) and overall atmospherics (like character names, etc) of what we have as of now.
Playtesters are of course welcome to post their own views here as well.
