Alamaze Service Levels
#21
And, just to make sure...

1)If I find warrior to be too much, can I transfer back to scout anytime (after one of my two games has finished of course)?

2)If we are not playing any games.. will the recurring monthly charge be automatically stopped until we start playing again or do we have to notify the good people at alamaze?

1 - yes

2 - No, I don't think so. I'm not certain how Rick handles this, but it is all manual and not automatic.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

The service level document with pricing has been updated.  As of 1/6/2015, new game signups are now:

Classic games (single kingdom): $15
Warlords games (3 kingdoms):  $30
Titan games (6 kingdoms):  $42

This is effective for all games after the game now forming (#161).

Anonymous games are an additional $5 for Classic and $10 for Warlords and Titans.  Anonymous games take 3x as long to setup, are tricky to setup for the GM and provide difficulties in communication and other aspects for the game master once underway.  Other custom games will fall in this category as well, except for New Player Primeval games, which will be $10 setups and free setup and game slot to the Mentor who is helping develop players and the community.

We're holding the Service Level prices as-is until at least March 31.

We are hopeful Uncle Mike and Cipher can migrate to a new platform that will automate, or come close to automating turn processing and provide other benefits by then.  Then the need to increase prices will be substantially alleviated as well as allowing the much needed time we wish to spend on developing new Scenarios, Cycles, and Games.  Which is what I and likely all of us look forward to.

We are holding prices as is until at least through June 30, 2015.

Since I'm a big full-disclosure guy, a minor point I just discovered that is nevertheless worth mentioning, in my opinion, is that monthly service levels are actually measured on a 30-day month. So it's not an actual calendar month, and you're paying for 360 days a year.

Again, probably not a big deal -- we're talking about a 1.4% difference here -- but for people who time final turns before dropping a game, it may make a difference.

That's right - your subscription renewal is 30 days.  Also, sometimes you might be invoiced a day early or a couple days late, but your renewal will always be 30 days from your last one.
