So tired of gang attacks. In fairness, the Gnome came in pretty much alone to Torvale and made some great moves - tip of hat to The Deliverer. Just no fun when a group of folks (all of them moving together from victim to victim) do the pile on the same turn. So, this game REQUIRES that you form a gang from the beginning or end up facing a gang. Oh well. Will stick to anonymous or warlord or team games.

Love your response. Glad you did not take offense. Just a P5 with a few troops.

I've been in 3 invasions so far this game and in only one case was it a 'gang' attack.
The first invasion was a gang attack where we coordinated to take R2 from WI. Later the DW came in against R2 and I quit the alliance and made a separate peace with DW, because the DW looked strong and I was still fighting the remnants of WI.
But after that I knew that SO was in conflict with DE and had hurt him, so I went after DE on my own while SO was also going after DE. In effect it was many against one, but it was really just picking off the wounded animal in the herd. It was not coordinated.
Then with AN, he and I actually came to the brink of war over a stolen artifact and I backed off because he was not involved in any wars at the time and I was still fighting DE. AN looked strong. Later, I saw that AN had gone to war with 3-4 people, so I figured he was going to be very distracted. Again, it was not a coordinated gang, just going after someone who looked vulnerable. WA and I have actually been getting in each others way trying for the same PCs because we're not working together.
So, to me, this no SVC game has been brilliant at preventing a bunch of people from teaming up early and locking out the others. I disagree that being in a gang from the start is that important in this format. The alliances keep shifting and that makes the game unpredictable.
It seems that if you get attacked by multiple invaders it's probably because you became a juicy target for some reasons, e.g. you look over-extended or you look like you're on your way out anyway.

I have to agree with Jumbie. As the DW,I don't think there were many coordinated attacks, but, there were a lot of attacks. I could have been the leader after T18, but I am far from that.
I will repeat, most players really don't play Alamaze to win, winning is very demanding. They play to do well, to achieve some success. But to win seems a bit like the real world - you might do things you don't like, you make deals that are a bit unsavory. I think most players play to experience the position, maybe try to spin it diffidently, but not many set out thinking they are going to win.
What do you think?

(AN) It's all cool. I accused nobody of anything wrong, just prefer a more individual game. One can say it was all uncoordinated, but I was invaded/attacked by 5 different kingdoms all of a sudden at the same time in 3 different regions, and I saw no overlap (except DE and GN showed up at the same town in one instance). Again, nothing wrong with anybody's action and Jumbie waited until our NAP was over, and the Gnome and I were generally friendly early on but no deals or NAPs, etc... It was all above board.
And I will be fighting back because you can't back down from The Deliverer or he gets ideas about being the best.

And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down
I'm far from the best... I'm just the one that does it with the most style.
