I hesitate to list these, but there are changes coming even in Classic to some kingdoms to get these kingdoms to what I originally wanted them to be.
So here is a summary of changes to the High Elves in Classic:
7. Elves
a. (Forest Supremacy) Now +50% in the forest;
b. (Evasion in forest) Like DW in the mountains, EL can avoid combat with an alternative to 120, like 119 as available and tactic of 1 in the forest. The reason for this new order # is Elves may often wish to have combat at a 120 and 1 retreat due to their advantages in forest, so an alternate order number is needed to avoid combat.
c. EL are +25% vs. TR in combat, and TR are -25% vs. EL (Similar to DW vs. GI)
d. MP cost in the forest is 4 (was 5). MP in mtn, marsh and desert is 7 (was 8);
e. Intercept range is 4;
f. Starting Sea Quality moves to 13;
g. Guarded Attack is gotten at P2;
h. The P1 in 1EL is now P2, and the adept in 2EL is now a P1

Theses changes look pretty good to me. Elves are looking better all the time...

Wow....
With Hawk's cool article in that magazine and these changes, the EL is looking pretty schweet for a Panda to play!
After pirates, of course! I'm looking at YOU, Ry'Vor!
"Have you ever considered piracy? You'd make a wonderful Dread Pirate Roberts."
I thought the Troll's natural enemy was the Ranger and not the Elves? This really hurts the Troll position (along with changes to 565 ogres). Another detriment to the Troll will be the impending Prov. Governor increase. Perhaps it could be mitigated by ressurecting the reduced Prov Gov hiring for the Troll at what was the old regular cost . 12K and .3? Troll also lost advantage of 5 orders over influence when everyone got 4 orders over.
Probably time to rethink the position a bit?
And yes, I'm signed up to be the Troll in the "new game with big changes" thread so that's why it's on my mind here!
I'm a bit worried reading all of these changes that the Troll is being put at a much more severe disadvantage. The bonuses in forest and vs Troll are cumulative yes? So theoretically Elf brigades would be double strength vs Troll in the forest? (+50% forest supremacy, +25% vs Troll, Troll -25% vs Elf).
Ugh. Troll no like.
So the Troll will basically be barred from invading Oakendell, and their political power is also destroyed by the prov governor increases. Military power is significantly weakened by 5 brigade recruited orc limit. What are the Troll advantages again?

2 orders over influence, right? Except maybe some special game?

Aren't the Elves also getting a 565 order?
THe bonus VS Trolls is pretty extreme, but it only applies to Elf kingdom brigades vs Troll kingdom brigades, correct?

565 changes the way explained will not effect trolls. Trolls get orcs not ogres. For combat I think it puts EL kingdom brigades vs TR in forest at aprox 4k
TR kingdom brigade vs EL in forest at aprox 2500. Orcs would fight at 2175 but have lower defense than the kingdom brigades.
Basically plan to bring a lot of orcs if you must go into the forest vs the EL. Maybe 3 to 1 number of brigades which should not be a problem for a TR.
Poor GN thought you got attacked by the TR a lot before.
565 changes include a total limit of recruited brigades to be 5 in each brigade regardless of recruit or transfer. As Rick put it " no one's strategy should be to go around with 20 brigades of Wyverns
I would say it as "no one's strategy should be to go around with 20 brigades of wyverns or orcs EXCEPT THE TROLL". Because that's exactly what the kingdom is built to do. Otherwise they have no real advantages.

Orcs are lighter troops than ogres so maybe it would be more balanced to allow the TR to recruit 7-8 Orc brigades per group as their max.
