Demon Princes
#1
I have been considering this kingdom lately since watching it on a team in 144. I think they are a cool kingdom but I think they will struggle with some of the new formats.

The Demon prince is ranking towards the bottom for status points and finishes on the 12 month data tracking.

They have an exposed center position and very slow movement points. They have a strong natural enemy with a less exposed starting position.

The Darkelven, Dwarf and Elf all got a boost. I think the Demon Prince should also.

I think one of the following changes should be considered.

1. Change their plains movement to 4 to help with the exploratory format.

2. Remove the turn 4 and 15 raise dead restrictions. Skeletons are not that strong and the new 171 rules reduce their game impact some.

Just my 2 cents,

Hawk

I did not care for the turn 4 skeleton restriction the second time I played them primarily because it prevented me from using 171 to take the city on turn 2. Now that 171 has been gutted, ot may not be as big a deal. The Demon Princes should be pretty taking pcs the first few turns.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. I agree with both suggested changes!

Hordes of skeletons still don't make the DE a military powerhouse. Also, if the best thing someone can find to do with the demon princes is to raise skeletons then that player is certainly not either attacking or defending. Only in peace are the demon princes not utilizing their more powerful special orders.

I won Game 100 with a massive skeleton army. I built up until I was ready and then I went to town with them.

I bet you went to a couple of cities, too. Smile

It's easy to eliminate the T4 Skeleton restriction. But I do wonder if that is what the Demon Princes should be doing early on. I kind of think the Princes should be taking cities. But that's just me, what do I know?

I say eliminate the T4 skeleton restriction.

I like the idea of my enemies sitting in one spot with their demon princes raising a horde of skeletons. Let 'em do it.

Turns 3-4 the Princes could be free to recruit. It might allow them to get 5 extra brigades of skeletons by the end of turn 4. This could also be difficult for the Demon Princes with the Exploratory Format.

I just think the Princes could use a little boost based on how the game is evolving. I could be wrong.

Given Valhalla position, doesn't sound wrong.

I would argue that the political aspect of the game has been made relatively stronger with the 170/171 changes, and with the DE being primarily a political kingdom, should already be relatively stronger...
