Friday will reveal how lucky everyone was at landed on pop centers as turn 3 will be the first chance for regional control to occur.

I know 50% is required for regional control, what does that shake out as in terms of numbers of pop centers?

In my experience, that depends a number of random factors. Regions tend to have around 7 towns and villages each. I use population averages of 30,000 for the towns and 16,000 for the villages. You can recon your city for the population but they are often about 65,000. After that you just need to do the math.

Whenever possible it is good to try to go well beyond the 50% target in case some things go wrong. Such as landing on controlled pop centers for example.

Best of luck capturing your region!

I use a point system (4 for city, 2 for town, 1 for village and you generally need about 14-15 points to own the region). Every now and then a region has slightly fewer or slightly more towns or villages so maybe it takes 16 depending on which towns and villages you get (you might just happen to get the 3 smallest towns for instance). And it you take pop centers with military, they get a tiny bit smaller when you hit them, so your average population is slightly smaller than the average then.

Game 153 ran last night. Check to be sure you got your turns.

Looks like everyone was equally unlucky since no regions were captured on turn 3.

Despite a Gnome written agreement for friendly relations until our regions where taken the GN has voted against the proud Elves on the HC and the south has declared allies. War will come sooner then later I'm afraid. My Son is donning his ancient Armor and my wife the Queen, weeps for the loss of life that is sure to come.

There is still time to stop hostilities, time will tell...
I played when it cost .22 cents to mail my turn to NC.

I think most kings should capture their regions next turn. If someone falls behind I will do my best to lend them a hand.

Turn 4 has come and all kingdoms but the sturdy dwarf have captured a region. I'm a bit frustrated with people not keeping their word. I had 2 agreements, one with the Gnome to be friendly untill regions were taken however he has issued hostile orders, before the promised time, and I had a 12 turn NAP with the Black, which he has ignored on turn 4 by voting no on my HC issue. I now see why people like the anonymous games. Being lied to is very disheartening.

Interested to see what role the powerful Warlock will take and when.

At the moment I am checking in with the Dwarven ruler to see if he requires assistance to place the Talking Mountains under his dominion.

After that perhaps the conflict can evolve to a battle of EL/DW vs GN/BL.

The good thing about a war is can help everyone become familiar with the combat system. Nobody is going to get overwhelmed by 2:1 odds in this game and there is still a lot of free real estate out there to capture.
