Well, you guys could do it like some webcomics do, and create a "buffer" of new content. Maybe release 13 Kingdoms in the Choosing, and add a new Kingdom every month to stretch it out over a year. The key in my opinion would be to have the designs thought out and developed in advance, so it isn't a situation where you just throw something new out there that totally changes the entire tenor of the game.
You could also do the same thing with buildings, or spells, or troop types, those would usually tend to be less "invasive" to the overall system compared to a Kingdom, so maybe there would be less risk of a massively game-changing or unbalancing event.

We always like new, cool things. The challenge was getting cool, new things in the middle of a game that completely changed everything (like being ready to declare victory only to learn that it was now 20 turns minimum) with no announcements. Progress rocks, but we need to finish games under the rules on which they started. New games can always have fun stuff as long as people know what the rules are.

If the majority really feels that way then this community would probably be better off with a slower developer like we had before than someone like me. No hard feelings or anything, I'm just trying to gauge the amount of effort that it takes to make the game better with new features to do in the game compared to catering to a small population of people. In other words, I'm not going to kill myself by working hard on developing new concepts if the players don't really want them around. As a gamer, I'm used to having things go the opposite direction, of needing new stuff all the time or people will leave due to boredom or try something else. Oh, I'll stick around to finish 3rd Cycle, don't worry about that but perhaps my time would be better off developing a completely new game like Rick mentioned about offering a WWIII, scifi or other game... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Alamaze wouldn't be the same without you. Without the changes and constant updates, what happened at Pegasus is liable to happen again here. I, for one, am not interested in playing a stagnant game. Without changes, I'll get bored and wander off. Lord Diamond
Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.
