Pirates
Congratulations to VBM and Lojjin and Hawk on their medals. Guess if you gonna lose, losing to the Grand Champion of Alamaze ain't too bad. Was really excited to play the Pirates and planned to treat them like a seafaring underworld. Began in Amberland and thought i was sharing region amicably with the Black Dragon, but that didn't end up happening. I took Avalon right away (though Tyrant sent a governor there). Took nothing else, figuring I would live in peace with the Black. Took a town and village in the water in Northern Mists and then sat back to make my agents and pick up artifacts. But on turn 3 the Black took my little village and then those Black Dragons showed up on turn 6 at Avalon with an army. WHAT? WHAT? Seemed crazy. He owned the region by turn 4, had all but my little city and town, but still wants the other city? At what cost? So, he took Avalon and moved two governors there and trained them to Barons. So, I killed them both. Spent the next 9 turns taking villages, towns and trading them back and forth. Killed a bunch of emissaries, agents, wizards and leaders. Finally made Amberland neutral on turn 15 and then took it for the Pirates on turn 21. Was all that damage and loss really worth taking the city from me? Again, seems crazy when he already had the region solidly and I had not taken anything from him or done anything but sit quietly in the water with my little two population centers, prepared to help him defend against any invaders. I finally had the upper hand on the Black Dragon, but we were also not alone in the region. The Warlock and Necromancer started visiting the region, maybe around turn 16. So, I had to kill a bunch of their people also. But too many of them, so I lost the region around turn 24 never to regain it. Turn 31 ends the game with Warlock declaring 4 region victory. Wizard kingdoms are awesome, this one ended with Warlock first, Druid second, Necromancer third. I saw very large armies of Warlocks and Necromancers pretty early on (never saw any Druids but they were leading in status for most of the game). I ended in sixth place and am pleased that the mean, attacking Black Dragons ended up in ninth. Also saw a drop on turn 3 of the Gnomes (JF), so not sure why that sort of thing is still happening.

JF had an issue with order entry. It took about 5-7 days for Rick and Mike to be able to fix it. Sadly I suspect he lost 2-3 turns there and if it was just 2 he likely dropped due to that.

Worst possible timing too!

Yes I was forced to miss turns 2 and 3. I could see the TY duke/count in the city on my T1 results so figured there was no need to try and fight after that.  In fairness RyVor did give me a free setup for this game and a few others that were unrecoverable.  I tried to stay in as many as possible and he likely cost me a couple higher medals but I will get those later

I had the Necromancer in this one and found it to be a very powerful kingdom which makes it fun to play.

From the start of the game I tried to be an undeclared ally of the Pirate.   I let him retain 2 towns in the Sea of Terror and never sea patrolled so he could conduct trade without problems.

I saw the Black Dragon fighting the Pirate and moved in to help out.  I was surprised to see the Warlock was also involved.  I did not want to fight the WA or druid so I decided to stake a claim in Amberland.  I was careful not to take any pop center the Pirate or Warlock held and even let the pirate take pc's from me in R5 and then did not take them back.

Then for some reason the Pirate moved in and grabbed Avalon and staged a full invasion into the Northern Mists.   I was caught by surprise by this and came close to loosing the region.   However, my Kingdom was pretty developed by that point of the game and the Pirate really was no match for my wizard power.

I repelled the invasion and spent the rest of the game hunting down pirate pop centers and emmies.  I could have triple domed Avalon on turn 31 but decided to let the Warlock take the region and finish in 3rd.   The Warlock had avoided me through the whole game so I didn't have a problem with his move to win.

Thanks to everyone for a fun game!!

FYI, I threw 5 Dispel Domes on Avalon on the final turn. And I did feel badly about taking the city from you, but it was for the win.... Smile

I played the Warlock in this one, and I will keep this brief. I took my region quickly and saw the BL and PI battling in 5 so I moved in and took Evanon and a town in the confusion and kept them guarded and domed when needed. Then I saw the DA was doing well with 2 regions and seemed to be working on a 3rd region so I attacked 9. He was not home so I took the region easily and moved into 10.

But the DA came back strong and angry. I went in with 9 Princes and he killed all but 1. Fortunately, I was close enough to the win that my groups were able to finish it for me on turn 31 when I took Avalon and a village.

My hat is off to the DA. He did a great job of fighting back and did serious damage. He gets my vote for Iron-Willed though we are probably not doing that anymore.

Seriously fun game and the Necro and I had a nice series of dances where we avoided doing any damage to each other while we were both sort of invading 5.

Wizarding groups with 3 Power 7 Liches are powerful and versatile. I had 3 of those types of group and 1 of them had about 30 brigades. I'll just say this: Teleport, Meteor Strike, Summon Various, Dome, Dispel Dome, Infuriate Populace, Earthquake, and did I mention Teleport?
