The Choosing Kingdom Balance
#31
Can we look at the devout trait? The hit to agent levels seems to be part of what these military kingdoms would use to combat wizard kingdoms. Also why aren't the ANs devout, they get income from high priestess hires.. though that amount is down drastically from 2nd cycle due to lack of deaths.

Possibly the number of Companion brigades per turn varies by kingdom, so possibly wizard kingdoms two, balanced three, military four.  Not sure if that matters much but was surprised to hear the wizard kingdoms were having the largest militaries, I suppose due to Create Gold.  Along with some modification of Dome of Invulnerability.  Maybe Create Gold should default to P3 instead of P2.

I don't usually second guess myself, but am trying to be receptive.  Again, the objective is all 24 kingdoms are equally appealing.

It is largely due to Summons spells.

it has nothing to do with Create Gold. Summon spells are easy to reach and most of the summoned creatures need not be fed or paid. Those vast wizard armies won't often have many companions other than a few of the best, such as Trolls. Nor will they have many Recruits. Why bother, when you can get skeletons and wights for free?

Agreed summons spells produce free troops.  Companion troops cost gold and food every turn which quickly becomes limiting.  I think it is the maintenance costs more than the recruitment rate.

Maybe spell components could be needed for some spells?

Perhaps if the summon spells are too obtainable and cheap then maybe a morale penalty could apply for having them with any mixed troops. Having non-human troops mixed in with recruits and veterans could cause a negative morale.

Giants vs. SA/BL in region 5.  I need to see a lot more battles, but in Amberland, the SA should reign supreme as long as they stay in the plains.  There is the issue, the SA really seems hampered to expand against the 3 northern kingdoms with its military might due to poor terrain and cavalry heavy units.  I would also guess the BL in region 5 is in a kind of tough spot due to its military inability go go on the water and most of its neighbors will have their capital at sea.  Now the Giants can fight against the weaknesses that the SA/BL have since they are primarily infantry based and can set sail on the seas.  For the SA, it would seem that unless they go for the win, getting a good placing of 2nd or 3rd is hard to do.  The victory points for agents and casters will be much harder to do then most kingdoms.  There is really no free or no upkeep troops so paying for troops becomes an issue.  Due to my lack of skill, I would love to see the SA played by some hyper aggressive players like Jumping fist in a diplomacy game and VballMichael in a Anon game and see how much more well versed players can do.
