Hi all! I've been working on other assignments and away from Alamaze since July so Rick has been on his own taking care of everything. So try to take it easy on him if any problems pop up. I'll try to check on things every now and then (because I want to see my software work properly) but my response time will be slow since I'm no longer part of the staff.

For this problem, from what I can gather so far, it seems that the Alamaze email server (Rackspace) changed something. Either its general email service or perhaps Rick changed the passwords to access the server. That's actually an issue for the games because it means no one will be able to receive emails anymore from the Alamaze game servers who use that login/password to send out emails. I checked the server's logfiles and true enough, errors are popping up whenever the server tries to email stuff out to people.

But the issue is not only with emailing because the launcher software module (this guy launches the processing of a game's turn) may get stuck on a major problem with the emails and ends up not properly updating the SQL database for the game's next turn. This in turn causes the game(s) to hang from processing properly and causes other issues like the All Games button on the Home page of not displaying anything due to missing data in the SQL database.

Anyhow, I informed Rick to investigate the issue with Rackspace's email situation. It could be just that the password has changed or something else simple like that. If so then Rick just has to reset the password back to what it was and the server will start working again as before without issue. I may need to log into the Alamaze server to clear some bad fields in the database like I did late on Sunday (which is why some of you reported that the All Games button is now working) but all of this will fail again FOR ALL GAMES (not just this one) if that email server situation doesn't get resolved.

So let's give Rick some time to handle the situation because for the most part, I'm no longer part of Alamaze and he's on his own.

Uncle Mike came to the rescue last night and did some SQL magic and things should be working now.

Log out and close browsers and come back and things should be back to normal, if not let support know.

5190 and 5192 should run later this morning.

Game 5192 which started this sub thread was rescheduled to run today at 11:15AM but looks like it’s still stuck.

Saw that.  Sent another email to Mike.  When IBM did its maintenance it screwed up our scheduled server processes.  Hopefully Mike can take another look today.
