The effect luck plays in Alamaze

And yes, I typically set my Fool up on standing order, but I also keep a standing order to guard him (oh yea, and my king too, since Agents can guard 2 characters).  :-)

That's 2 standing orders that are not being used on something else, so using your Fool on standing order does come with a cost.

Rick has commented that he doesn't think standing orders get used much. I typically use every single one of mine as early as possible and then complain about not having more available.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project.      I love the fool! I wish we had more semi-passive characters just like this one!

Three new character classes with limited orders are under consideration for the next scenario: Engineer, Sage, Hero.

Guard is normally used for your characters in non-owned PC's.  Counter Espionage is recommended for your owned PC's and groups.  An agent will protect all your characters as well as the PC itself in one PC.

My question/point on using the one order available for a Fool as a standing order is it seems sort of automatic, and one objective I've had is to try to eliminate reflexive orders.

You might need to tweak influence/orders based on adding more classes. But I like the direction Smile

You mean like enamoring your initial region? Or sending nobles to the city? Or training your L3 to L4 so that he can scout 4 areas? Or SO to guard prisoners? There are some orders that are 'reflexive' simply because they make too much sense to do otherwise.

If you take away the ability to use a SO for The Fool, I would probably not use it unless there was nothing else. I love having it and would hate to see it ruined.

I am looking forward to the new character classes!

Sweet, can we remove order 11 at turn one? That reflexive order tends to cost me orders and prevents me from fully using emissaries to their best.

I also like the fool the way it is. Like JF, I enjoy sending a sneaky agent to kidnap a fool when an adversary isn't expecting it. Once you get upwards of two to three fools, your influence starts going through the roof!

The Fool really makes it more feasible to hire more agents, governors, and noble maidens. Not to mention promoting them. I would say that this one is not broken and doesn't need fixing.

Tell us more about the Sage...

Can the sage tell me who assasinated my Fool?

That would be nice!
