The 2021 Alamaze Championship Competition

How about this?
There are 7 players with podium finishes. Add Wookie for 8. Remaining 4 slots to first come first served.
Randomize regions among the 12 entrants.

Then for kingdom choice, the top 3 in each qualifier get first choice of the kingdom(s) they podiumed in. (So I could choose the SO or AN) Gisgo would get first choice of the AM, but Garth could take it after (because of podium with the kingdom) if he didn't take DE.

If a podium finisher chose not to take that kingdom (with a random region already assigned), randomize kingdom pick order with the other entrants, then they could each pick from the remaining kingdoms left. So being a podium finisher gives some advantage (if your region is appropriate).Then gogogogogogo!!

I'd play that if that's the consensus but in my opinion that's a whole lot of randomization and not much advantage after we have gone through 3 qualifiers. I actually think the idea of a totally randomized game might be a lot of fun, but not for a championship. The playoffs have to mean something.

Perhaps we draft for regions, the podium winners have to pick the kingdom they came with and the last 4 get kingdoms randomized? Or perhaps a standard snake draft but with a descending chivalry bonus giving the most to the first seed, then a little less to the second and so on. Whatever. I'm just spit balling here.

I tried to make a draft order in case we actually use any kind of draft.

I thought the previous championships also included podiums in games played in the previous year? Did that change? Just curious: makes games played throughout the year worthless?
