Primeval Alamaze Classic

So you know the TR starts in the Forest and if there are only two forest towns in Torvale, you know one of them will be the TR capital. The WA and GI start in the mountains and there tend to be 3 mountan towns in Amberland, so not hard to figure out once you have the towns divined.

Thanks, that make sense Smile
I did learn one thing from my "mentor".

Woohoo! Last person on board to get his region!!

At the end of Turn 4 in this experienced player game of Primeval, after Turn 4 all five kingdoms control one region each.

I would like to play a variant of this. Looks cool.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

I'm very interested in this campaign. I don't think its revealing anything not already said that the EL did not anticipate maintain status quo at Lorethane and so The Deliverer was the last to claim the homeland.

Very interesting discussion in this thread earlier, hinting at the diplomacy of 10 regions / 5 kingdoms = 2 regions each. I'm not sure that would always be the outlook.

I guess I am most excited about the possibility that a 5 player, 5 kingdom game on this size map may be ideal for both new players and bring new neuron connections for experienced players.

Well, the thing is, if two people fight over what would be their second region, that means that somewhere on the board there is a region going 'unclaimed' and another kingdom might get a real advantage by jumping on it. In either case, you will be losing advantage as you are having to fight for the second region. In this case, the GI wanted 9 for his second, which would have been my first choice. I was happy to consider 8, but the GN also liked that one. So while the solution was to steer him towards 4, the nasty, greedy, EL also wanted 4, the pointy-eared meanie. The DW wanted 6 - it seemed nobody wanted 2 because of lousy regional reactions. I was a bit surprised, actually - had I been the EL or DW, I would have wanted it for the defensive value of the Sea of Terror - quite worth the bit of extra gold to enamor it up. I won't describe all the dip as the GI did the heavy lifting, but eventually the mean ole' EL agreed to go and sulk up in the Mists, letting the GN go for 4.
As for me, my Amberland village came in handy, as my Baron was close enough to hop over to Lorethane on turn 1. The EL apparently tried the old 320/330 combo but since the 320 failed due to my SQ order, the 330 caused somebody to be incarcerated. I was of two minds about using the Baron that way as I have a lot less emissaries than the EL and while he's up there, he can't be flipping towns for me elsewhere, but it was very much worth it.

So... I'm still not sure why everyone thinks I want 4.

Also, somehow I completely missed the BL baron at Lorethane on turn 1. Didn't read my recons, apparently. Oops. Wouldn't have held up getting the region if I had simply re-tasked my guys, but obviously that didn't happen.

And the DW becomes the first to gain 2 regions. Everybody pile on the DW! (Actually, no, pile on the EL first).

#89
I don't think you really need to ask to make that happen, DuPont. Smile It seems I've many, many folks looking to enjoy my wood(s).
