Primeval Alamaze Classic
I like the format, but would want it to be anonymous to prevent two other kingdoms from allying against a third.

Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.

Remember, no allies can be declared. The problem with also making everyone enemies is it screws up influence changes. Also, no trading is allowed.

I think this could be the format that finally elevates diplomacy to a level more like the famous board game "Diplomacy", with a more manageable (four) number of players to communicate with. I can see once players get used to the nuances and strategic possibilities, this could be the most challenging and most luck-free format. Remember the new Primevals are also Exploratory - so yet another strategic change.

This is certainly a fun variant of the game, but with only 5 players a 2v1 simply means that the '1' has 40% of the board against him.

I'd highly recommend this format to just about anyone.

As to learning experiences, if you're not already moving on your second region by the time you have your first, you'll be behind. The previously mentioned miss of the BL baron at Lorethane put me a turn behind and, well, with such gifted players as are in this game that will create a tough mountain for me to climb. We'll see how it works out.

Short version: great format, make sure all the players are on the same level, and be very careful with your negotiations.

Master apprentice about the same % once two teams come after one. So I know how ya feel Smile

With less players it does seem to become even more important to get those deals early. I would not mind seeing some kind of rule for no turn based deals but again player enforced. The consul also can lock up quickly.

What consul?

Council. Fingers beating the brain to get it down.

In our game the last 5 turns 3 of us have been taking turns with the nomination and vote.

Woot! Second region!

LT, thanks for all the hard work to make sure I got the city. That's huge. HUGE.

Shall I plan on seeing your army group there shortly? Bring cookies.
-The Deliverer

That is huge. 2 attackers and you still took 2nd region. Nice.

I wouldn't put much stock in it. I'm guessing I'll lose one or both this turn... but it's a moral victory.
-The Deliverer

You don't have any morals.

I do when I'm losing, just so that I can have some victories.

Otherwise you're probably correct.
